While addiction is one of the things that ruins the lives of many people, it is supposedly unavailable because its illegal. The harms caused by its use don’t seem to stop those bent on self (and general) destruction.
The drug can burn out the septum in the nostrils by repeated snorting. Addicts have problems with their teeth, lose weight because they ‘forget to eat’ and steal to get the next fix (or do something worse).
The government had a brilliant idea once it would help addicts get off heroin by providing them with methadone (a heroin substitute) for a short time. the substitute is as destructive as the drug because long term use causes kidney failure. But, there are methadone clinics that provide large bags of drugs to ‘patients’ on a regular, long term basis, without much follow up.
All they have to do is go to the clinic as scheduled.
