How Can People Fight Against Alcohol Addiction?
Step by step fighting to alcohol addiction.
What is actually Alcohol Addiction?
Alcohol addiction is simply defined as a compulsive need for an intoxicating liquid that is obtained from fermented grain or fruit. These liquids include beer, wine, and other hard liquors.
Once a person gets addicted to it, it can lead to dire consequences ranging from family to professional life. Though one enjoys while drinking but if u take a look at the repercussions are you would think twice. All major health problems associated with alcohol use such as brain damage, cancer, heart disease, and diseases of the liver. Alcoholics who do not stop drinking reduce life expectancy by 10 to 15 years.
Though there is no specific route to stop alcohol addiction but one can easily take few steps to reduce his alcohol consumption. Let us make it easy in three steps –
Step 1
Learn to have fun without drinking.
This is one of the most crucial steps. When one tries to stop drinking he starts looking for substitutes and must learn to have fun without drinking. To do this, you must lose the negative friends and maybe even family members. Anyone who supports your alcohol addiction needs to be cut away. This does not mean you have to cut ties to everyone in your life. Nor does it mean you will be bored for years. There are plenty of things you can do instead. Try to do things which occupy your mind and which you like the best.
Step 2
Support from Friends and Family.
Some of your friends and family will likely be willing to help you fight alcohol addiction. Some of them will even guide you in the struggle. This is crucial. There is an old saying, “An addict alone is in bad company.” The problem is you still have to be social. The answer is to ask for help and stay busy, two things that can help you achieve success in beating the disease.
Step 3
Self Control
The last and quintessential step is to have a control over you and keep yourself away from the dreaded drink. If one can follow this last step, then half the battle is over.
If one can follow these three basic essential steps then fighting alcohol Addiction is quite easy. Hope you have a strong willed mind to follow these steps.

Even though I do not drink I have seen many homes in my lifetime destroyed by this addition. Wonderful article and very helpful for those that are seeking help.

I don’t drink but I can relate to this. Two of my relatives died of cirrhosis due to excessive alcohol consumption.

I agree completely with george. I drink, but apparently it hasn\’t deadened my brain (I had a hard TBI in \’04) as much as whoever\’s brain was responsible for this article. I mean, if someone is truthfully looking for help and thin they have a problem, I would think an article such as this would deter them from any further seeking of said help.

George is spot on.
Reading this article has discouraged me from visiting this site again.

This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever read.
Case in point:
“have a control over you and keep yourself away from the dreaded drink.”
I won’t bother with the obvious grammatical errors. But this is like saying, “If you have a problem, stop having that problem.”
Alcoholism is a serious condition, it’s considered a disease, and there are many, many real resources for getting help. This list, if anyone is stupid enough to follow it, will only help enable someone to continue drinking.
Start with Alcoholics Anonymous. If you don’t like their philosophy, consider a good therapist who specializes in addiction treatment, or any of the thousands of reputable alcohol rehab programs in the world.

Difficult task but not impossible.

I am an alcoholic!!! I have not touched a drink in 18 years. I can tell you this. This is a careless article. You have not even scratched the surface. It sounds to me like you just grabbed a keyword just to get traffic without understanding what you are even writing about.
I think before you write anything else on this subject you should research the subject more closely.

My mother has been an alcoholic since I was 5. I don’t think most people understand just how bad it is, or how fully it can overtake someone. She gave up her family. She gave up her passion of music. She gave up her friends. She gave up her self respect and her love of life.
Because of her addiction, I didn’t grow up with her and I barely know her, which breaks my heart everyday.
She has been in and out of rehab my entire life. I used to pray every day for her to get better. I still do sometimes.
Her addiction hurt my father, she was the love of his life. It hurt her sister, my grandparents, my older brother, myself and so many others.
This article is like a slap in the face. How dare someone so ignorant on the subject try to recommend treatment?
“If one can follow these three basic essential steps then fighting alcohol Addiction is quite easy. Hope you have a strong willed mind to follow these steps.”
This statement shows me quite clearly, the person who wrote this article has never known an alcoholic. Or they would never suggest that fighting alcoholism is easy and only takes 3 steps.
Alcoholism is a disease, a serious disease, and needs to be addressed in a serious manner.
