My mother has been an alcoholic since I was 5. I don’t think most people understand just how bad it is, or how fully it can overtake someone. She gave up her family. She gave up her passion of music. She gave up her friends. She gave up her self respect and her love of life.
Because of her addiction, I didn’t grow up with her and I barely know her, which breaks my heart everyday.
She has been in and out of rehab my entire life. I used to pray every day for her to get better. I still do sometimes.
Her addiction hurt my father, she was the love of his life. It hurt her sister, my grandparents, my older brother, myself and so many others.

This article is like a slap in the face. How dare someone so ignorant on the subject try to recommend treatment?

“If one can follow these three basic essential steps then fighting alcohol Addiction is quite easy. Hope you have a strong willed mind to follow these steps.”

This statement shows me quite clearly, the person who wrote this article has never known an alcoholic. Or they would never suggest that fighting alcoholism is easy and only takes 3 steps.

Alcoholism is a disease, a serious disease, and needs to be addressed in a serious manner.

I am an alcoholic!!! I have not touched a drink in 18 years. I can tell you this. This is a careless article. You have not even scratched the surface. It sounds to me like you just grabbed a keyword just to get traffic without understanding what you are even writing about.

I think before you write anything else on this subject you should research the subject more closely.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever read.

Case in point:
"have a control over you and keep yourself away from the dreaded drink."

I won't bother with the obvious grammatical errors. But this is like saying, "If you have a problem, stop having that problem."

Alcoholism is a serious condition, it's considered a disease, and there are many, many real resources for getting help. This list, if anyone is stupid enough to follow it, will only help enable someone to continue drinking.

Start with Alcoholics Anonymous. If you don't like their philosophy, consider a good therapist who specializes in addiction treatment, or any of the thousands of reputable alcohol rehab programs in the world.

I agree completely with george. I drink, but apparently it hasn\’t deadened my brain (I had a hard TBI in \’04) as much as whoever\’s brain was responsible for this article. I mean, if someone is truthfully looking for help and thin they have a problem, I would think an article such as this would deter them from any further seeking of said help.

I don’t drink but I can relate to this. Two of my relatives died of cirrhosis due to excessive alcohol consumption.

Even though I do not drink I have seen many homes in my lifetime destroyed by this addition. Wonderful article and very helpful for those that are seeking help.
