How to Get Past a Marijuana Addiction
This article will give brief steps on how to quit smoking marijuana. This will include things like when to stop smoking, why to stop smoking and what to do if you decide to stop smoking marijuana.
Why to stop smoking Marijuana?
First of all, I’m not some person who hates marijuana with his entire heart. I have smoked weed for 3 years almost every day and loved it. It connected me with many people, and it made the everyday life a lot of fun. But then I started realising the downsides of this herb. I started becoming lazier and ignoring my every day duties, like homework, exercise and other things. I started becoming a slower and my whole world revolved around marijuana. Every time I would call up a friend and ask them if they wanted to “chill”, that would mean let’s go somewhere and toke up. I started to ignore sports and even regular activities and just smoke with my friends all day. I started to become someone I told myself I wouldn’t become when I started smoking weed, and that is a POTHEAD. I woke up everyday feeling warm knowing that I had my stash but when it wasn’t there I was really irritable. Sure this paragraph may seem like I’m talking about crack or something… but that is not the case. Exsesive weed smoking does change your life in a negative way and makes you become careless.
When to stop smoking weed?
Some people will say don’t even start smoking weed. I disagree. Smoking weed is something that everyone should experience in their lifetime. But at they same time they should keep it controled. But you should stop smoking when you notice the affects it has on your life, and you realise that you don’t want to live your life that way.
Step to take to stop smoking weed.
1. Thing about what interest you. For example like playing an instrument or sports. Once you find an activity that you really like, it can become your hobby. That hobby will keep your mind of marijuana.
2. Think about the things that remind you of marijuana. For example, like music, movies or anything that you did when you smoked weed and try to remove them from your life, at least temporarily. I know this could be a hard since you probably did everything you like when you were toking up, but at least try not to relate it to weed. Weed is a mental addiction, not a physical addiction, so you have to remember that it’s all in your head.
3. I think friends is the most important factor. You meet a lot of people when you start smoking weed. And all these people you meet you only have one thing in common with them… weed. So try not to communicate with these people and tell them that you quit. They’re probably gonna laugh and say that there’s no way that you quit and try to toke up with you again. But if they’re your true friends, they will respect your disicion. Then there is the case when you were friends with these people since kindergarden and it just happened that you started smoking with them at the same time. You can’t just stop talking to these people since they’re your true friends and have always been there for you. So just sit down and have a talk with them about quitting marijuana, and see if they realise the affect it has had on their life. Quitting weed will be a lot easier if you do it as a group. Because when you’re in a group, you will support each other and do other activities together that you all enjoy instead of smoking weed. Because if you stop and all your friends continue smoking, it will be very difficult for you unless you have great self control.
One great way to quit weed 100%
Once you have attempted the steps to quit weed, it is time for the final step. This one worked for me and thousands of other people. You need to go on a vacation for at least two weeks. Somewhere you don’t have access to weed and where you will refresh your head. It is possible to find weed wherever you go, but what would be the point of that? Just DON’T look for it. Once you know that you can’t get your hands on it, you will not crave it any more because your mind will accept that there is no way you are going to get it. If you stay fresh and off weed on your vacation then I guarantee you that you will come back with a fresh and feel like a new person. You will not be thinking about weed and you will laugh at how you were just a few weeks back. Then it all depends on you and your self control. You may easily decide to start smoking again when someone offers it to you, but since your mind doesn’t need it anymore it will be alot easier for you to reject the offer. If you are not able to go on vacation due to financial reasons or something else, just pretend that you can’t get weed anywhere around you. Delete the numbers of your dealers and all the friends that you just smoke pot with. It will be harder that way, but it will work if you keep yourself busy and your mind of weed.
Conclusion
Quitting weed is not like any other drugs. It is alot easier since its a mental addiction, not physical. Some people still find it very hard. The first week will be the hardest. You will feel irritable and want to smoke very much. But you should keep strong and know that you’re doing it for a reason. When your addiction is gone, you will feel like a new person and get on with the sober life. I’m no doctor or professor. I’m just a student who is writing from personal experience.
