When men develop breasts, something is wrong. The problems can lie either in the hormones or the habits of the afflicted individual. When only the habits are causing the problem, the solution is simple: drop the bad habits and adopt some healthy ones! When the problem is hormonal, a lot of specific questions must be answered before any treatments can be suggested, and the treatments themselves are likely to be complex. There is even distinct possibility that the cause of the development of the breasts will never be found, though this mysterious generation will not prevent successful treatments.
The endocrine system controls all of the hormones in the body, and when the system malfunctions and causes the development of breasts in a man, this is called physiologic gynecomastia, or Turcios Disease. Turcios can progress to the point that the breasts begin to secrete milk. Effective treatments can be applied in almost all cases of the problem, but for about 25 percent of all diagnosed patients, the underlying cause of the breast development will never be found. For most sufferers, however, there are identifiable triggers that bring on the disease. Sometimes people with gastric problems or ulcers take the drugs cimetidine or omeprazole. These two medications are proven to cause gynecomastia. When young teenage boys take certain steroids in the pursuit of bigger muscles, the drugs act as stimulants of the female hormone oestrogen, and end up causing breast development. Tumours near the adrenal gland and inflammation of the thyroid gland can also cause them.
If you have developed breasts because of the way you have put on weight, then your problem can easily be remedied, especially if you act in time. This problem is called lipomastia. If you have overworked your muscles without using steroids (please remember that steroids cause breast development), then you will be able to change your appearance relatively quickly. This problem is called hypertrophy of the pectorals. Usually these two factors work together to create what are referred to as man boobs. In a typical case, a man will overwork his pectoral muscles until they become very large. Then he stops going to the gym, for whatever reason, and he begins to put on weight. His pectoral muscle mass will retain its bulk for a long time, but it will also begin to lose firmness and mutate into the soft and saggy heft of fatty tissue. The combined mass of fats and softening muscle begin to droop, and there you have it: a typical case of breasts grown on a man. The solution is diet and exercise.
