How to Reduce Your Anger

Anger is a very common affliction that can cause stress, lead to increased risk of disease and destroy relationships. But if you exercise and try to control yourself why is it that the guy cutting you off in traffic still makes you go ballistic? Because your subconscious is responsible for as much as 80% of your day to day activity. From breathing and keeping your heart beating, to your emotions and habits. Unless you get this part of your mind working with you, you will never get the results that you desire.

Visualize the results that you don’t want. Using the principals of pain and pleasure you want to create an image in your head of what you don’t want. Because most people will go to greater lengths to avoid pain than to seek pleasure. So if you want to get rid of your anger then imagine how unhappy and painful your anger makes you feel. Imagine how it is affecting your relationships and your life. Really create a painful picture in your head about how your anger will destroy your life if you don’t change your ways.

Visualize what it is that you do want. To reduce your anger you must visualize the end result and associate it with pleasure. Imagine somebody doing something that would normally make you angry, but feeling calm and relaxed. Imagine how good that makes you feel that you are able to remain in control. Imagine how good it feels to have peaceful relationships and how people compliment you on how in control of yourself you are. Imagine how good that makes you feel.

Use brain entrainment and biaural beats. Science shows that sounds can affect our emotional states and how our brains function. Ever listen to a song that makes you immediately weepy? Using something called biaural beats, which are alternating sound patterns we can train our brains to be more susceptible to suggestions thus making it easier to change patterns and habits. Improve your self-talk with hypnosis. How we think about and talk to ourselves is probably more important than what other people say to us. But sometimes we can be incredibly mean to ourselves. If you want to get rid of your anger use a positive affirmation.
