Sexual Performance and Depression: It’s All in Your Head

Often a man’s failure to launch has nothing to do with him physically. It’s all in his head.

Many men think that if they can’t get their winky up something must be wrong with them. Well, that very well may be. For some reason we men tend to believe everything relative to our manhood is wrapped up in what we do, what we own, how pretty our woman is and our sexually performance. Most of the things on this list we can controlled to a large extent. However, a stunning sexual performance sometimes eludes even our greatest efforts. While we all like to brag about our Mandingo like abilities, we all have a slow night from time to time and fail to keep Buddy at attention. Then there are some of us who fail to rise to the occasion no matter how hard we try. This lack of sexual performance is enough to drive some men into a mild state of depression. The irony is that depression may very well be the cause of the problem.

Because depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, it manifests itself in many different ways; mood swings, low self-esteem and sexual problems to name a few. During a time of arousal the brain is responsible for increasing communication between brain cells by way of special chemicals known as neurotransmitters. These chemicals increase blood flow to the winky, thereby causing an erection. Because depression throws the balance of these chemicals out of whack sexual performance can by affected. So all you “real” men can breathe a sigh of relief. Because, often a man’s failure to launch has nothing to do with him physically. It’s all in his head.
