Treatment Programs

There are people in the world who have got some very different addictions, wether it be alcohol, drugs, sex or gambling. I can personal speak from my own experiences, you see I once had a drug addiction, I got to a point in my life where I knew I had to do something about it because I either was going to wind up in an early grave or at least end up in some very serious trouble, I say serious trouble because I just didn’t care how or what I did to get the drugs I craved. It is so true that it is said that drugs are the ‘Evil’ of man, in some cases I have come to have known people who would kill their own Mother just for the fix they needed, and thats when I realised I was no different from them. The drugs I used are one of the worst that is very addictive, heroin is a drug that will wipe away all your hopes, your dreams, your family & friends, it will get you to beg, steal and borrow. The only law that you become aware of is the law unto yourself, heroin will eat anyone alive, whether you’re strong willed or not, you get to the point of no return, the only belief you get is that nothing else matters, even you yourself is of no importance, just the drugs is the most important, getting the ‘fix’ one requires, requires to kick start the day. On some occasions you may not have the money you need to buy the heroin, so you have to think up of a way that will enable you to get what you need, the quantity of drugs you want to get yourself to keep you going for a few days, but it gets to a point that the more drugs you have the more you want to take. Then theres the self believe that you think you can give it all up tomorrow, as soon as today you may kid yourself, but it’s not as easy as one may think, first you got the thought in your head that you don’t need the help that is on offer, I personally thought that the health workers was just a bunch of do-gooders that didn’t have a clue about the real world, then you prepare yourself for the sweats, the shakes and some very long and lonely nights of screaming, tossing and turning, sweating more fluid out than your body is taking in, then the fun begins?

The treatment I have been prescribed is a substitute called methadone, it is an absolute miracle drug, it has completely changed my life, I have got my life back on track and spending the last 19 years being at the bottom of the bowl I have recovered some of my self-respect and self esteem. My family are really proud of the steps that I took and the most rewarding part is that I am taking control of my life.
