The foods which use more calories to digest than the calories actually contained in the food. The body has to use energy or calories to digest these foods.

The foods which use more calories to digest than the calories actually contained in the food. The body has to use energy or calories to digest these foods.

For example- A 400 calorie chocolate cake might take 150 calories to digest, net gain is 250 calories which adds fat to the body. Whereas a 25 calorie (100 gm) piece of broccoli requires 80 calories to digest, so that results in loss of 55 calories.

Vegetables – asparagus, cucumber, beetroot, cabbage, celery, cauliflower, lettuce, hot chilies, onion, radish, spinach, green beans, garlic, turnip, zucchini, carrots.

Fruits – apples, blueberries, lemon/lime, cantaloupe, mango, orange papaya, peach, cranberries, pineapple, strawberries, raspberry, watermelon, tomato, grapefruit honeydew.

The negative calorie foods help to lose weight.
