Aging and Calories
Calories can affect us as we age.
We all love to eat but we also know we have to watch what we eat. If we watch our calorie intake it can pay off big time as we age. If we are overweight we shorten our lifespan by developing chronic diseases over a period of time and combined with aging we will come out the loser in the end. Calorie restriction can help us experience the aging process as it was meant to be. Calorie restriction is a strategy that we should use to prepare for aging. It can maximize your lifespan up to 40 percent. This may sound dismal to those of us that love our food but it doesn’t mean that we have to cut out all of life’s pleasures when it comes to eating. It has been reported that even those of us that cut back a little on calorie intake will benefit from doing this in the long run. When we cut back on calorie intake it is always a good idea to add vitamins to our list to make sure our body is getting good nutrients.
It is amazing the benefit you can get by cutting down on calories and it has nothing to do with weight loss. When you lower your calorie intake it acts positively on the mechanics of metabolism by boosting the autophagy . This is the way the cells of your body remove any damaged components and recycle the material into new replacement parts. These damaged cells when their left behind in your body can cause problems in the future and contribute to the aging process.
To watch your calorie intake can be as easy as watching what you buy at the grocery store. Start by buying foods such as nuts, fruits, seeds, yogurt, cheese, eggs, fish, and a small amount of whole grains. If you can’t do without your sweets then try a piece of chocolate cake or some natural ice cream to help you over the bumps. When you go out to eat order a salad, if you want a snack, popcorn is wonderful and yes, you can have butter on it.
You will have maximum nutrition while you’re eating healthy foods. Even if you’re eating less the things your eating will provide nutrition for your body. Your body wants and needs good nutrition. When you’re filling your body with all the processed food that is on today’s market there is hardly any nutrition in it that is why you find yourself hungry most of the time but when your body starts getting the nutrition it needs you will find your cravings will vanish.
