Stop Aging with an Antioxidant Diet

Have you ever wished you could freeze the passage of time and get your youthful looks again? Eating a diet rich with antioxidants is just what you need.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was a magical cream that helped us all to stop aging and look the way we did when we were in our twenties? There are plenty of creams, masks, and supplements that are claiming to just that. the only thing is that they cost a lot of money and many of them don’t really do anything. So is there any hope for anyone to start looking younger? The answer is yes but it’s certainly not something that’s going to happen overnight.

Beauty from Within

There are now a range of beauty products that contain antioxidants being marketed as the way to beat aging. If putting antioxidants on your skin helps make you look younger think of the good it would do if you included them in your diet. Eating an antioxidant rich diet is one of the best ways to start looking younger.

How it Works

So how does an antioxidant diet work? It’s very simple. Our cells need oxygen to work, but oxygen can also cause oxidation and cell damage. Think of a nail that’s been left out to rust. That’s what can happen to our cells.

Antioxidants are important to protect our cells from oxidation. So while you can slap on antioxidant enriched creams to give you younger skin the best thing to do would be to include antioxidants in your diet. Something that is easier said than done.

Slipping in Antioxidants

So how do you start eating an antioxidant diet when most of the time you only have a chance to grab a sandwich for lunch, have to skip meals because your late for something or are too tired to do anything more than microwave something? Make small changes in your diet and you’ll find that it’s pretty easy to have an antioxidant diet.

A great way to get your daily fill of antioxidants is to start drinking tea. Green tea has a great reputation for being rich in antioxidants, helping weight loss, cleansing the system, and boosting the immune system. If you’re trying to cut down on caffeine then drink red tea, it has plenty of antioxidants but no caffeine.

Five a Day

It is recommended that you should be eating five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. Make those five portions part of your antioxidant diet. Add fruit like blueberries, strawberries, or apples to your cereal in the morning or your yoghurt. Eat fruit instead of a candy bar as a snack.

Add tomatoes to your salads, try and eat dark leafy vegetables once a day. Spinach, broccoli, and kale are all great sources of antioxidants and a good place to start your antioxidant diet. An antioxidant diet is better protection against cell damage than antioxidant supplements so start looking for ways of beefing up your diet with antioxidants.
