Acupressure can help to alleviate bloating and gas pain. Pressing and massaging certain acupressure points can stop flatulence. Massaging the hands, ears and lower arms can also help to control flatulence.
Flatulence may be caused by many things. Eating beans, cucumbers or celery or drinking carbonated beverages or beer may cause gas. To relieve and control flatulence press the area three finger widths below the navel for three minutes. That is acupressure point CV 6. Pressing CV 12 will also help to eliminate flatulence. CV 12 is halfway between the end of the breastbone and the navel. LI 11 on the outer end of the elbow crease also helps to reduce gas. You may also massage the area around the navel for a few minutes.
Swallowing air while exercising or talking or eating too fast may cause flatulence. To eliminate the gas press the area of the two metatarsal bones between the second toe and the third toe. That is acupressure point ST 44 that is between the second and third toes. Pressing and massaging SP 6 will also help to relieve flatulence. SP 6 is one palm width above the inner ankle on the back of the shinbone.
Flatulence may be caused by inefficient digestion possibly due to lack of digestive enzymes. In that situation pressing ST 36 will help to expel the gas and relieve the digestive problem. ST 36 is one palm width below the kneecap and one finger width outside the shin. Pressing the area on the inner arch of the foot that is a finger width behind the ball of the foot can help to relieve gas that is caused by unsteady digestion. This form of flatulence may have been caused by poor circulation. Flatulence caused by poor circulation may be alleviated by a foot massage.
Wrist bands that are sold to treat motion sickness may be used to assist digestion and control flatulence. The point for motion sickness is located three finger widths from the wrist crease on the inner arm. The area for flatulence and digestive congestion is on the inner arm near there, two finger widths from the wrist crease.
