Color Therapy: Red

Red color is associated with the base chakra in our body. It is one of the three master chakras and seven major chakras. Red color enhances will power, strength, caution and energy. Its complement color is turquoise.

Physically:

• Red is symbolic to fire. It nourishes the body and enhances the excitement.
• It stimulates blood and nerves.
• It excites the sense organs.
• It strengthens the liver.

Psychologically:

• Red indicates anger, danger and destruction.
• It enhances excitement and irritation.
• It indicates the inner feelings like love, desire, revenge, hatred etc.

Red color is very effective in treating the following diseases:

• Blood related diseases
• Asthma
• Bronchitis
• Constipation
• Paralysis
• Pneumonia
• Tuberculosis
• Physical weakness
• Idiocy

Do not use red for the following persons / conditions:

• Emotionally weak people
• Angry, short tempered
• Mad and arrogant
• Fever
• Hyper tension

Precautions:

1. Excessive use of red may generate fever and exhaustion.
2. It promotes anger and violence.
3. The effect of red can be reduced by blue color and it is balanced by green color.

  7. I did not realize that colors had so much affects on the human body. Thanks for sharing this informative article.

  8. Valli, when I worked as a prison guard they informed us that certain color schemes were used in painting the walls to aid in the management of the inmates. Red was one color they tried to avoid, and I read in your article that it should be avoided by those who suffer from hypertension. Food for thought.
