Fight Cancer Aging Insomnia and Much More with This All Natural Miracle Supplement

A look into a supplement that could be used as an aid to fight a whole number of things from lack of sleep, to being used to fight cancer and even the signs of aging.

I remember when I first heard of melatonin in the late 90s, not a lot was actually known about this supplement other then the fact that it was an excellent aid with sleep, in fact it was so effective that that astronauts took it in space.
Melatonin is the key factor that sends your brain into rapid eye movement which is known as dream state and it is while in dream state that your body recovers. By taking this supplement rather then the 2 hours it usually takes before you go into dream state/recovery, melatonin not only helps you to fall asleep but placed you in R.E.M virtually right away, therefore; giving a more restful sleep, therefore; more recovery time and you awake feeling refreshed, aware and generally good! Let me tell you when I heard this I went right to the health store and bought it!It was quite expensive but I thought if it worked then it was worth it so I gave it a try and I am happy to say it did work so much that I stayed on it for about six months and then simply stopped taking it because I was sleeping great at that point but right now I honestly have to admit that knowing what I do now about it, I wish I had stayed on it!
Recently I went back into the same state, not getting a whole lot of sleep and began looking up melatonin once again but what I found, as stated, made me wish I had stayed on it from the beginning finding out that in the last decade a whole lot of study went into this supplement and let me tell you right now, what a powerhouse! The benefits of melatonin are actually quite astonishing going far beyond just sleep recovery.

The most important thing you must know about this miracle supplement first of all is that it is a natural supplement that your own body produces in the pineal gland which is a small organ located in your brain that secretes melatonin, although, only when it is dark. The production of melatonin begins to decrease in our bodies when we are in our early twenties. Melatonin in or bodies is a key factor that promotes growth and maturity however;it also affects a number of processes in our bodies such as sleep and temperature. Low levels of melatonin in humans have been associated with a number of things from depression to seizure disorders.
In the last decade there has been numerous studies carried out on animals and humans and extensive study into melatonin being used in connection to cancer. A University of Texas cellular biologist who has spent most of his life studying melatonin, a scientist by the name of Russell J. Reiter is so sure of the benefits of melatonin that he takes 1 mg of melatonin every night.
These are but just two things I learned about it but I, like all people needed more factual information so I kept researching as to the benefits beyond regeneration through sleep and here is what I found.

Fights Cancer
To extend more on cancer, in the animal studies that were carried out melatonin appears to keep certain types of cancer from spreading as rapidly as tumors that have not been treated with it. In similar human studies the same result was found. Melatonin is capable of fighting cancer because it acts as a powerful antioxidant which helps to rid the body of harmful free radicals that can cause serious diseases. So it is possible that it not only helps fight cancer but other serious diseases as well which just have yet to be researched.

Antioxidant Wonder
Antioxidants are compounds that fight free radials in our system which in most cases destroy immunity, cellular membranes and in some cases even damages DNA. Free radical damage is associated with diseases from Alzheimer’s disease to multiple sclerosis and atherosclerosis to cancer, however; many have yet to be studied in usage with melatonin but the one thing that has been proven is that it is a powerful antioxidant booster. By eating foods enriched with antioxidants such as blueberries or spinach or by taking the supplement vitamin C, (note that beta carotene and vitamin E have proven to be ineffective and may actually harm the system) it can help, but by taking melatonin which has been proven to be much more potent in antioxidants then any of the best antioxidant fighters, it can be done once a day without having to worry about how many vitamins or food you have take or to eat in order to fight free radicals in your system.

Immune System Booster
Melatonin has been proven to enhance or raise the immune systems ability to ward off illnesses. It functions by raising immunity levels in order to neutralize the effects that stress, drugs and infections have on our systems and it stimulates the immune system and raises levels of our own natural immunity which kills harmful cells such as bugs.

Anti-aging Benefits
When concerning anti-aging melatonin has proved to have the most significance in this area although, still yet under study and theorized. It is said as we get older our organs begin to degenerate from an accumulation of the free radicals because of the lack of melatonin in our systems, however; by taking a daily dose of melatonin, the increased production would be a prevention towards the damage free radicals cause, thereby promoting longevity. In studies rats that were given daily doses of melatonin lived 25% longer then those that were not, they also became more active and physiologically younger.

Insomnia And Jet Lag Treatment
As mentioned above Melatonin has been proven to treat and be very effective when concerning insomnia in individuals. In darkness or at night the pineal glad secretes melatonin which causes sleepiness and lowers the body temperature as natural drowsiness does. It works the same way for jet lag and has been known to be quite effective, especially when crossing 5 different times zones.

End Note
The study on Melatonin and its benefits are ongoing and they continue to find wonderful uses from this supplement, such as, it is a natural birth control, inhibiting reproduction and although this is still being tested, it is proving effective as well. The potential for this supplement go on and on and is actually quite amazing, who knows what they will find out about it in another decade!
Personally, after looking at all the facts my own opinion of this supplement is that perhaps everything in our body is linked to melatonin and sleep. For example as we begin to get older we sleep less therefore;the production of melatonin decreases and our bodies, eventually becoming unable to regenerate and ward off illness and disease and just to think all of this could very well be linked to one little gland that requires the dark and a young age to make it. I also believe that by taking it as a supplement we could very well increase the longevity of life, it sure couldn’t hurt to try it and I for one am going back on it.

However; for everyone else, a word of warning, as with any supplement speak with your doctor before usage. Do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as it could have adverse effects on the baby who is already creating significant amounts. Also note that in some countries which have not studied it, you may need a prescription from your doctor in order to get it because it may not be approved for over the counter sale.

  4. Wow, I really liked this one. I’m only getting about four hours of sleep a night and have a problem working in a daytime nap. I could use the anti-aging therapy too. May be too late. I will check with my doctor Thursday. It sounds like the right stuff.

  5. great wow

  6. An excellent article Mystify :-) It presentss the facts (which are supported by scientific evidence). You’ve practically covered everything! I particularly liked reading about how melatonin is used for treating jetlag..during a flight, you should eat light meals that are easy to digest and try to get as much sleep as possible. When you arrive at your destination..adopt the rhythm of the local time straight away i.e. eat and sleep to the new pattern. This resets your ‘body clock’ by stimulating production of the hormone melatonin.

  7. Excellent article! Very nicely written.
