Flower Essences – Other Methods of Preparation
There are many other approaches to making essences, not all of them using flowers.
These preparations are better known as vibrational essences.
Living Flower or Dipped Essences
Some essence producers believe that picking the flowers is not necessary to making a flower essence, and use this approach. A spray of the living flowers is lowered into the bowl of water, the stalk being held down by forked twigs, threads tied onto sticks or crystals tied to threads. The tincture may be left to cook for quite short periods of time or for long ones, perhaps several days, usually decided by dowsing or intuition The healing energy of the flowers is imprinted into the water just as effectively from the living flowers as from the picked ones. Some producers combine the two approaches and float picked flowers on the available water surface, in addition to having a living spray in the water.
Variations on a Theme
Many creative variations are used to make flower essences in this modern age. Some makers use a specific number of flowers, for example three, or seven. This is said to give results just as satisfactory as covering the whole surface of the water with flowers. A sunny day may or may not be chosen, as essences are not made in all different types of weather. Some producers make them during a clear night, allowing the essence to benefit from the moon or starlight.
Many producers use mediums other than water on which to float the flowers, such as oil or vodka. Normal instructions for making an essence are followed, but the essence will not need to have a preservative added, as it is already in a stable solution.
Water may still be the choice for the mother tincture, but other preservatives may be employed, such as glycerin or vinegar, which is helpful if the essence is destined for those who cannot tolerate alcohol.
Flowers may be laid in a pattern, or a number of different varieties may be mixed together in the bowl to create some unusual, if one off, potencies.
Alternative light sources such as lasers have also been used with success, and powerful essences have been produced by replacing the bowl with a geode, which is a hollow crystal structure.
Environmental Essences
Using many varied approaches, vibrational essences can be made out of anything natural, since all of nature radiates a life force which can be harnessed for healing purposes. Essences made from crystals are the best known alternative, and a popular choice. Combination essences can also be made, mixing flowers and crystals, for example.
Some wonderful environmental essences have emerged, expressing energies such as stars, storms, snow, glaciers, and even the Aurora Borealis. These are made by leaving a bowl of water outside during a storm or under the stars to absorb the vibrations. Alternatively, some snow or ice from the flakier is added to the bowl and left in the sun. The Bach essence Rock Water is also an environmental essence and is made in a similar fashion.
Channeled Essences
Following the beliefs of Native American animal medicine, a range of animal essences are not available. These essences are produced by ritual and meditation in which there is an atonement to the animal spirits in the wild. The resulting healing energy generated is focused into the water, which is then preserved. Other forms of channeling are widely used. Some practitioners, often healers, will hold a bottle and project the healing energy into it, praying that it be made especially for the person in need. Provided the process is conducted with a very pure intent the results, although obviously subjective, seem to produce some good and certainly unusual essences.
