Gong alternative Exercise

Qigong(Chi-gong)is ancient Chinese style of exercise for body and soul.

I have never heard of Qi Gong prior to this. I have been doing this exercises or therapy for nearly 3 months now. I am highly recommended it to everyone. I cannot guarantee that it will work for you, but it does help me in terms of improving my lifestyle and health.

I have been a health freak just recently due to a problem with controlling my sugar level. I am insulin dependent diabetic so it can be very frustrating at times, as most diabetic probably know what I am talking about. Different people though have different experiences with the ups and downs of their blood sugar. Anyway, with my diet mostly green vegetables and low GI food, plus doing my Qi Gong exercises, I feel much better; I am healthier person in the making.

Back to Qi gong, first time I went to this class, it was about 18 people in the class. I was introduced to the master; his name is Master Alex Lim. He is small in statute, but looking very fit and flexible. What impresses me the most about him is, he is quite old, with long white hair, (remind me of one of those Kung Fu master in Chinese movies) yet his face was so fresh and healthy. I knew then I am in the right place. I also noticed most people in the class are from the ages of 19 to 70 years old. However, majority in their early 40s.

What is Qigong and how does it work?

Qi Gong is not like western style exercise, eg: aerobics or any vigorous style exercise, its very gentle exercise. Qigong consists of techniques of dealing with the flow of human energy. These techniques applied to the human body’s chakras and meridians, which are the body’s focal points and channels through which its Chi Energy flows.

In Chinese medicine, they believe many illnesses are caused by blockages in these channels. By recognise and circulate your energy correctly, a person can also connect his or her energy with the universe. Qi gong can relieve pain; improve health and memory, delay the process of aging and quality of life.

Qigong help from the inside, unlike western exercise that concentrates on build body strength, Qigong connects the body and spirit, focusing on breathing, concentration and physical movements. If any of you, readers interested in this method of healing or alternative exercises and therapy, find out the nearest Qigong (Chi Gong) centre and request more information from them. Alternatively browse Qi gong websites to get further information on what Qigong has to offer.
