Live Healthy and Love Life

It happens to all of us eventually. We wake up one morning and realize that life has brought us to the crossroads. We must make the decision to either grow old gracefully or go the rest of the way unwilling and unhappy. There’s nothing wrong with growing old gracefully but why not do it with a healthy mind and body? Retirement is just around the corner and there is so much you have been waiting to do. Whether it’s writing, running a marathon, sculpting, or traveling you don’t want to be slowed down by poor health. You want to be in your best health to enjoy the best time of your life.

  1. Elevating your mood is a great first step.

When you are happy the rest just seems to follow. The supplement 5-HTP works by elevating the serotonin level in your brain. Serotonin affects your emotional well being and helps to control your appetite and regulate your sleep cycle.

5-HTP has also been proven to be a powerful vascular headache remedy by boosting endorphin levels.

The increase of serotonin is released into the brain causing the production and release of morphine-like endorphins. For complete information, go

  2. Drinking green tea has many health benefits.

It can reduce the risk of esophageal cancer, improve bad cholesterol, strengthen the heart, boost the immune system; help guard the body against infection, as well as benefiting rheumatoid arthritis. Green tea contains the amino acid L-theanine which is known to relieve occasional stress caused by nervous tension. It acts as a mild sedative without causing drowsiness.

  3. COQ is recommended by cardiologists.

COQ 10 is recommended by cardiologists for its powerful roll in protection of the cardiovascular system as well as it’s abilities to guard against prostate problems, breast cancer, boosting the immune system, and to help keep the cranial vascular system healthy

  4. Protect your glucose metabolism.

Protect your glucose metabolism against free radicals and maintain the nervous system and liver function with Alpha-lipoic acid. This powerful antioxidant can neutralize dangerous free radicals while boosting your body’s supply of vitamins C and E. Alpha-lipoic acid plays a major roll in the body’s ability to convert calories into energy and helps maintain normal blood sugar levels.

  5. Vitamin E is often called the anti-aging antioxidant.

It reduces the risk of heart attack by gradually breaking down blood clots and guards against new clots developing. Vitamin E also slows mental and cellular aging.

Detoxify regularly with L-glutathione to neutralize the effects of long time drug use and radiation. This important immune booster is a potent detoxifier that cleans the blood and removes toxins from your liver. It repairs damage from X-rays, and chemotherapy as well as protecting against certain types of eye diseases.

  6. Turmeric is an excellent anti-inflammatory.

It can be used for any inflammatory illness such as arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, and fibromyalgia. Turmeric is also helpful for improving blood circulation and aiding the digestive system.

  7. Exercise is important at any age and can greatly benefit overall health.

Low impact aerobics such as walking is a good way to stay fit without putting undue strain on your muscles. Exercising works to protect and strengthen the heart and lungs, increase circulation, helps control body weight, reduces high cholesterol, reduces risk of stroke, increases bone density, reduces risk of certain types of diabetes, reduces risk of colon cancer, helps against osteoarthritis, keeps your body flexible, and elevates your mood.

  8. Laughter is truly good medicine so laugh often.

It can lower blood pressure; relax your muscles, massage body organs, and releases endorphins giving you an all over good feeling.

  9. Breathe deeply.

Deep breathing can provide sufficient oxygen to your body, reduce fatigue, calm your mind, help you sleep better, reduce stress and anxiety, remove built up toxins from your body, clear your head, and elevate your mood.

Live healthy and love life.

  2. I’m joining the band wagon of “grow old gracefully”, and this is an inspiring, informative, helpful article, Darlene!

  3. A very well put together article and very informative. I have learned that the supplement Chromium Picolinate is one that I believe should be part of “the mix” which helps control your blood glucose. Very well researched, Darlene.

  4. Very useful info.

  5. Good reminders for us all. Thanks!

  6. Darlene, excellent advice.
May I offer a tip on vitamin E though?
We should try not to take over 400 mgs daily if we have hypertension as larger doses can increase blood pressure, and those who have problems dealing with depression may want to be cautious with chromium picolinate.
Having problems with migraines, I will look into 5-HTP. Thanks for the tips.
    Take care.

  7. Thank you everyone for reading.

    Judy,
Thank you for the tips on 5-HTP and chromium picolinate, it is important to know exactly what you are taking and if it will interact with other drugs or health conditions. I noticed I sent in my rough copy and have sent in a fix which also contains a link for more info on 5-HTP.
