Meditation: For Beginners

Meditation, does not come easy, and I had a very difficult time quieting my mind. After serveral attempts, I was finally able to stay concentrated on meditation, and slowly increase my time. Through meditation, I found out many things about myself, learned to release negative energy and move on. I hope if anyone is struggling to obtain a peacefully, satifactory meditation cycle, that my article will do just that.

Many people find that meditation is a difficult concept, but with time, and a strong desire, anything is possible. Many look for an experience that will be extraordinary, and they fail to realize meditation takes patience, time and dedication. I know this because I had high expectation the first few times I attempted to meditate, I realized I was trying to hard.

To start, you must find a quiet place, and make it the place that you will use all the time for meditation. The energy over time will come naturally when going to the same place, at least in the beginning.  The area should be clean, and as clutter free as possible and a place where you will not be interrupted. With the stage set, settle down get comfortable and relax your mind. If your mind drift away, or starts to race bring your mind back. Now sit with your back supported, get comfortable clear your mind, close your eyes and focus on your breathing; breathe in deeply, and exhale. When focusing on your breathing, don’t hurry it, or over emphasize the breathing, just slowly and deeply until you have quieted the mind.

There are many things you can use to focus, but I am going to “focus” on breathing since that is the easiest place to start for beginners. The first thing you need to overcome is, first don’t try too hard, and if you’re a busy type of person, attempt to meditate, for only five minutes.  Start with five minutes and after a few days you can increase it to ten and eventually up to fifteen minutes. After you have mastered fifteen minutes you can then consider longer lengths of time, at which time aim to listen for your inner voice. As ideas and thought drift in, let them float by, and again focus on your breathing.  During a good meditation cycle things that have been bothering you may come to light, with a solution, or anger from a situation that day; always accept your thoughts, your solutions, consider letting go of you anger.

Remember anger is wasted energy, and you have more important things to do with your energy.

Do not move onto more time, until you have mastered up to fifteen minutes, and it may take a quite a while to get this accomplished. Always remember, quiet time no matter how short, is time for you alone, and everyone needs to take some time just for themselves.

For many this type of meditation is the easiest
