Peace of mind and tranquility will lengthen your life. In addition, to a healthy lifestyle filled with great foods and a regular exercise regime, more and more books are emphasizing the incredible importance of peace of mind for the best life possible. Meditation, yoga, and taking time to stop and sit to watch the wind blow through trees and the ocean waves caress the soft salty beaches not only nourishes our soul it promotes our health.

According to Deepak Chopra, in Perfect Health, “Nature can be trusted” and it is important to trust our instincts. It is important to listen to what our bodies and minds are telling us we need and the only way to do this is to quiet the mind. Give ourselves time in the day to sit and really listen to what messages our bodies are sending.

In fact, Chopra goes so far as to claim that aging is a myth and that there is no good reason why any of us should age. Does this claim sound difficult to grasp? We have been taught all our lives to think one way, but is this the only way to think? Many of the geniuses and most influential people throughout history have bestowed incredible theories upon the public that were difficult to comprehend or even give credence to at the time, but hundreds of years later are now inextricably weaved into the very fabric of our present day lives.

Many studies even claim that we are only presently using a mere five percent fraction of our brain capacity, thus, expanding our mental capabilities can just very well possibly eliminate aging altogether. Chopra goes on to mention that DNA “is virtually invulnerable to wear and tear” continuing to solidify the theory that aging is truly impossible.

Through some of the research and books I have read, I have also found studies that further support the limitless power of the mind to heal and create profound “miracles”. One such study found that a person who had a multiple personality disorder suffered from diabetes in one of the personalities. This was a true account discovered through a doctor’s physical examination. However, in another “personality” within the same person, the doctor gave the patient another examination and found the second “personality” to be diabetes free. This discovery is truly a profound window into the incredible capabilities of the mind to not only create disease within itself, but of the power to remedy it as well.

As Walt Disney so simply and eloquently stated “If you can dream it, you can do it”. Nothing is impossible to dream or believe. The power of the mind is something that if we tapped into completely the possibilities would and will be unending.
