The Seven Day New You Challenge!

Feeling bored with life? Stuck in rut? Keep meaning to try new things but can never quite muster the enthusiasm to do so? Then try my seven day challenge to inject some fun and passion back into your life!

Many self-help plans often focus on changing just one thing at a time but this week we will be focussing on changing as many things as possible to gain maximum impact! To take part in this challenge you need first to do a little preparation, this isn’t something you want to hurry. To get the most out of this you need to spend some time deciding on what you really want to change. Take a piece of paper or open a word document on your computer and type or write down all the things you would like change and new things you would like to try. Be as creative as possible, write down all your wishes, hopes and desires, along with your wildest fantasies, just let it all out! The small things are just as important as the large ones. The ideal time to plan this for is when you have no work commitments or a have a flexible timetable that will allow you the freedom to mix things up a little. Think of it as a working holiday.

This week we will be looking at all the small things you can change in your life, by changing the small things, it will give you the momentum to carry on and change the bigger things in your life. So take a highlighter pen or use a similar function on your word document and mark out all the ones that you are actually capable of doing right now. Try to pick the simple things, the ones that are for right now achievable and within your budget as this will help your confidence to grow enough to tackle the bigger things.

We will also be focusing on eradicating the negative vibes from your life and injecting a few of the good ones! So instead of filling your head with all the evil and misery going on in the world, take a break from the endless news updates on the TV and radio. If you have to listen to it, just once a day is enough, believe me if anything serious kicks off someone is sure to tell you about it! Look at the type of programmes you watch as well, nothing is more full of gloom and doom and negative programming than soap operas, medical dramas and other so called real life style shows. Real life is a magical blend of good and bad, the expected and the unexpected, but these types of shows only focus on sensationalism. Instead dig out all your feel good movies, all the ones that make you laugh out loud, ones that have a spiritual theme are good as these open you up to new ways of thinking and improving your life too.  The same with music, music is a powerful emotional trigger, be careful that what you trigger is actually what you want to be reminded of!

Everything around us is vibration, like attracts like so the more ‘Good Vibes’ we surround ourselves with, the more we will attract to us. The same with people; take a look at who you hang around with. Do they make you feel good about yourself, or do they run you down, feed off your energy and never encourage you to try new things? Close friends and family members aren’t always as easy to avoid but you may be able to limit the amount of time you spend together and by just being aware it can help you to be on your guard. Use this week to spend time with those who do have your best interests at heart, who do make you feel worthwhile and loved. If due to travel or work commitments you can’t spend time with them physically then write to them, email them, or phone them up; let them know how much you appreciate them, how much they mean to you.

This is also a good time to make some new friends; this could be through a new hobby, sport or interest you are trying this week.  If you go out there beaming out good vibes with the intention to meet like minded friends then you will.

Take a look at your diet, how can you improve on it? And drink more water! No one ever seems to drink enough water, and no, tea and coffee and even fruit juices aren’t a viable replacement.  I am talking pure fresh clean filtered water. It is the best thing you can do to improve your health.  Exercise too, you don’t need to go overboard if you haven’t done any in a long time, little and often is a good way to start. Exercise comes in all different forms, so pick something that is fun, that you will enjoy.

This is an excellent week to declutter your house too, throw away all those things that are neither, useful, beautiful or seriously sentimental as Anthea Turner is fond of saying. It is amazing just how many things fall outside these categories too!  Dig deep; clearing space, clearing away the past makes room for nice new shiny things and experiences! This isn’t a week just for pampering yourself; it is a week for action too!

Now might be a good time to examine your spiritual values too, is what you believe in serving you now or are you living by the rules laid down in your childhood? Take time this week to get to know the real you, don’t run away from yourself, meditate, journal your thoughts.  Find your own truth, blaze your own trail; explore new religions, ways of thought or spiritual practises. Even if you find that what you believe is what you have always believed you will now have deeper insight into the ways of other people.

This week you will be changing everything; all that you eat, listen to, watch and do. From waking up, and jumping in the shower, try a new shower gel you have never used before, wear clothes that you wouldn’t normally and if your budget allows try a new style of clothes too. Try styling your hair differently, eat and drink something different to your usual choice. If you usually slump in front of the TV to eat breakfast than do something different, listen to some music that makes you feel good.

Now once breakfast is out of the way look down your list and pick something that you have always wanted to do and get out there and do it! Continue your day in this way, filling it with new experience and new experiences and you will feel a real zest for life returning to you. Build on this each day, stretch yourself a little further, try something just a little more daring and by the time this week is up you will be unstoppable.

There are so many great CD’s and books  out there that can help you continue your progress and help you to direct this new found enthusiasm into manifesting your bigger goals. Anthony Robbins I can’t recommend highly enough, also Neil Donald Walsh, Michael Bernard Beckwith to name but a few.  If you find that you need help in a more hands on approach you may like to consider hiring a personal life coach, just a few sessions can work wonders! There is so much help and advice available right now from various therapists and experts in the healing, motivational and spiritual sectors that you need never feel on your own.

Find the one that speaks to you and keep up the great work, celebrate the new you!

I would love to know how you get on so do feel free to get in touch with me.
