Be it for its aphrodisiacal properties, or its high vitamin content, everybody knows the benefits of the avocado. It is rumored that the Aztecs enjoyed a daily dose of the avocado to keep their libido high, while the Spanish were so intrigued by this fruit that they brought it with them to Britain. A complete food source, as well as one to keep you looking beautiful always, what more could one ask of a fruit!

Grown best in tropical countries like the Mediterranean, as well as in Brazil, Mexico and even some South African countries, the avocado has been around for ages and has traveled the world too! It is great for your health-and is often given to infants because of its nutritious values-as it not only helps your skin recover from minor injuries but also protects us against diseases such as cancer, as it is high in beta carotene. Yet, a word of caution to those who are trying to lose weight-it is high in calories, so go easy!

This green fruit is most popular now for two different reasons – guacamole and skin care. Whether you eat the fruit or use its beneficial pulp in your skin care regime, the avocado knows what is best for you. It is an effective natural moisturizer, as well as a natural exfoliator while the oil from the seed has properties to protect your skin from sun damage and age spots too! Now go ahead, you have another reason to pamper yourself at the spa-simply ask for avocado treats; your skin will thank you. If the spa thing is not your style, you can always have your avocado treats at home instead! A simple and effective treatment that leaves you feeling radiant constitutes mashing an avocado and applying it as a facemask. The soothing nature of the avocado along with its hydrating properties will have your skin feeling rejuvenated and radiant. Leave the mask on for about 20 minutes and wash off. Then watch your skin glow!

Avocado has become a useful ingredient for our daily skincare routine. Other than applying avocado on your skin, consuming it in a salad can also be beneficial. It softens the skin and provides a moisturizing effect and can do wonders on damaged, undernourished and dehydrated skin.

Now the next time you visit you local vendor, do remember the avocado; after all, it is one of the most favored aphrodisiacs of yore; and if not for that reason, simply because it loves your skin!
