Beauty at the Best Price
Beauty Products are hype and expense, they contain chemicals that can cause cancer but there is a healthier way to go.
Cosmetic companies will tout their product and tell you their product will make you more beautiful but don’t believe it. Some homemade products are as helpful as the most expensive beauty products on the market. Look at women who buy these expensive products and you will see for yourself.
I don’t mean models and movie stars who have their faces done by make-up artists. I mean the women you see in your daily life. You know who they are. Don’t let anybody tell you a product will nourish your skin. The only way to nourish your skin is through a healthy diet and the only way to hydrate your skin is by drinking plenty of water. The most important thing you can do for your skin is to stay out of the sun and lead a healthy life style.
One of the best masks you can use on your face and the cheapest is apple juice with sugar. Pour a little apple juice in a cup and put a spoon full of sugar in it. Spread it on your face and neck and let dry. Rinse well with luke warm water. You can use this on your arms and legs. Your skin will look softer and plumper. Use as often as you like. Another good facial mask is egg white. Rub it into your face and neck, let dry and rinse in lukewarm water.

Petroleum jelly is good for an inexpensive night cream. Remember a little goes a long way. Apply a small amount to a freshly washed face and neck. You can also use it on your arms, legs, and body. Apply a small amount and rub in well. Rub petroleum jelly into your cuticles after bathing to keep cuticles smooth and hang nail free.
Instead of expensive conditioners, rub a little mayonnaise into your hair before shampooing. Don’t fall for the deep conditioning treatments. It doesn’t work. Nothing can penetrate the outer cuticle of the hair shaft. Care for your hair by eating right and drinking plenty of water. To help stop breakage always use a wide tooth comb. And please don’t use heat on your precious hair.
Baby oil is as good as it gets for removing make-up, including eye make-up. It will take off waterproof mascara and won’t irritate your eyes.
Mild soap is the best skin cleanser but use it no more than twice a day. If you have an allergy to soap use glycerin based soap. If even the mildest soap is too much for you Ponds cold cream cleanser is used by many women dermatologists. Always finish with a cool splash of water and apply a light moisturizer with sun screen. Any sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF)of 15 or more must adhere to FDA guide lines. The drug store brand is just as good as the expensive name brands.
You don’t need an exfoliant, Use a good stiff wash cloth instead. The cheaper the wash cloth the better it is for your purpose. You want a good rough wash.

Don’t let sales people talk you into buying expensive nail polish at the cosmetic counter. Drug store brands are just as good at half the price. Store in the refrigerator and it will go on smoother and last longer.
Baking soda is still good to remove stains and whiten teeth. Make a paste by combining a teaspoon of soda with a few drops of water. Brush your teeth well and rinse your mouth as usual.
To make your own lip gloss scoop the last bit of lipstick out of your old lipstick tube and combine it with petroleum jelly. Store in a pill bottle or an empty chap stick container.

I use olive oil for removing eye makeup.
Any cooking oil will do though.

The older I get, the more things I’m allergic to it seems. Petroleum jelly went off my “able to use list” a couple of years ago. I substituted olive oil or canola oil. Canola is a bit cheaper, olive oil lasts longer. Scented herbs make them smell nice. Soap went away a long while ago, and I have to be very careful about shampoos. But you are very right in saying expensive doesn’t always mean good.

I thought this was going to be a musical piece, I think the title has a tiny typo.
I want to remind men that facials are not just for women, guys should try to maintain their youthful appearance too!
I have never paid over $4 for a bottle of black nail polish.

Great tips. But has anybody tried moving in life without make-ups? I think people will get used to it. Unless you have a regular show on TV…

Great advice Ruby. I am reminded of a time in my 20’s when I put petroleum jelly in my hair as a conditioner. DO NOT DO THIS!!It must have taken 2 or 3 weeks of daily shampooing to get it all out of my hair! Live and learn! Oh one more lesson I learned: For those who like to break open a capsule of vitamin E to put on their face, this is fine. However do not use fish oil capsules. They really do smell like fish!!!!

DA, I can imagine what a problem with vaseline in the hair. It is rich stuff.
Mark, I fixed it, I don’t know how I let that one get by me.

Lots of good tips here Ruby. My Jan uses Vaseline on her lips with lipstick for the glossy look I love that! She’s selling Mary Kay now and I have to say that they have (I don’t know what it’s called…I’m a guy…) but something they put on the face and it makes women look 20 years younger. I was amazed!
