Eyebrows

Place a pencil vertically against your nostril. Your brow must start exactly where the pencil crosses or directly above your tear duct. Remove any hair that grows beyond this. Keeping the base of your pencil against your nostril, move diagonally until you cross the outer corner of your eye to form a 45° angle. This is where your brow must end. Remove any hairs growing below the line where the pencil crosses the brow. The highest point of the arch will be just above the outside of your iris.

Filling in Brows

Brow pencils are best to fill in brows. Always use a well sharpened brow pencil. Use tiny, fine, feathery strokes to fill in brows. Each stroke must be short and of the same length of the eyebrow hair. Delicate, upward strokes fill in brow and produce a natural, beautiful look. Blend gently with fingertips or eyebrow brush.

Brushing up on Eyebrows

• Irregular eyebrows should be plucked to give a better shape.
• Pluck only the stragglers from beneath the brow especially the tip of the eyebrow to lend a slight sweep to the brow line.
• To shape eyebrows properly, always pluck one hair at a time from beneath the brow.
• Never shape the top line as it leads to patchy, slow growth eyebrows.
• Pluck away straggling hairs present over the bridge of nose.
• Never pluck eyebrows to a thin line as it takes a long time to grow.
• Pull each hair with a swift, sharp tug in the direction of its growth, holding skin taut with the other hand.
• After make-up, brush eyebrows to shape. Use an eyebrow brush to comb eyebrows.
• Stray, curly eyebrows may be brought to shape with a little Vaseline, hair gel or alternatively, you can spray a wee bit of hair spray on to eyebrow brush and tidy eyebrows.
•  Use the pencil with soft mild upward strokes and then brush through to give desired shape.

Eyebrow Fashioning

High arches of the sixties are out and soft are in vogue. Tweeze only the stragglers and leave the eyebrows with a soft, thick look. Scanty eyebrows can be connected with a good eyebrow pencil. Use tiny, upward feathery strokes and then blend with an eyebrow brusher fingertips. Always brush eyebrows, upward and then across so that they fall into the naturally.

Pre Tweezing Preparation

Tweezing eyebrows can be slightly painful and can cause red swollen brows. Before tweezing your eyebrows, it is imperative that you numb the eyebrow area.

• Cotton gauze dipped in hot water may be pressed on the skin before tweezing.
• Washing your face prior to tweezing is also a good idea.
• Alternatively, you may run an ice cube over brows and then start tweezing.
• You may also rub on a little cold cream before tweezing.
