Fall Face Care
The fall means cooler days ahead, and just as the environment changes, so does your skin.

As the air gets colder, it also gets drier, losing its ability to hold moisture. This makes it essential to follow a plan of action designed to inhibit evaporation of your own body-produced moisture. To maximize moisture, try some of the following tips:
- Use a simple, creamy (or gentle gel) cleanser. It does a thorough job of removing dry and flaky skin cells, stale perspiration, and surface dirt—without removing all of the skin’s own vital, protecting oils. Say no to soap; although it dissolves surface oils, it leaves the skin without a shield against excess evaporation of cellular water.
- Steer clear of other drying agents such as harsh clarifying lotions, alcohol-based toners, and astringents. These are skin strippers!
- Drink at least eight glasses of water a day – one glass every two hours or so. Hydration comes from the inside.
- After the summer, the skin under the eyes is at its driest. Tuck a tiny jar of eye cream in your beauty purse and pat gently with your pinky at least three times a day.
- Just because the summer’s over doesn’t mean your lips no longer need the benefits of a vitamin E stick or sunblock balm.
- Here’s a year-round beauty note: Tissues should not be used on the face. Tissue is paper which is composed of wood fibers that, over time, can irritate the skin. Cotton, or moist wipes is a much better bet.
