How to Make Your Hair Grow Faster

A selection of hints and tips on growing your hair.

Had a haircut and thought “oh dear…”? or perhaps you merely wish for longer locks for a special occasion? you are by no means the first person.

I have slightly bad news for you; there is no magic pill to go from bob cut to waist length overnight. If you are in that much of a hurry, the best thing I can suggest is hair extensions, hair bobbles with a pony tail attached, a wig or a change of outfit that includes a hat.

Hair can, and will, show the world your stresses and worries so take time out to look after your hair.

Eating healthily, while a cliche, is a start. Make sure you are eating foods with protein (eggs, fish) and ensure you are getting the right amount of vitimins b, c and e. Soy (found in tofu) has been proven to strengthen hair and promote its growth, so getting that in your diet is useful. Some natural remedies that are effective are: flax oil (also know as lineseed oil), nettles (a source of iron), carrots (a source of beta-carotene), zinc, primrose oil, sunflower seeds. It has also been noted that those who get their five-a-day have sleek and strong tresses.

Staying stress free is a vital part of happy hair, so set aside a little time to relax and unwind each day. All medication has the potential to retard hair growth, so avoid sleeping drugs; a true nights rest will do you and your hair the world of good!

No cigerettes; be it second hand smoke or you smoking them yourself, remove yourself from their presence!

Look after the hair you have,

If what you have is healthy it will look longer and it will grow quicker.Avoid excessivley hot water and do not use a blow dryer that doesnt have a ‘cool’ option. Use a heat defence spray if you must blow dry/straighten your hair. Have a hot oil treatment once a week to look after the roots and have a trim every 6 weeks (8 at a stretch) to remove split ends.

Dont brush or comb hair when it’s wet! Brush it before you wash it using a soft brush, wet hair with warm water, lather, rinse with cool water, condition. For best results; have a very final rinse using cold water with a little lemon juice in it. Dont rub your hair when you get out of the shower; blot it. For best results, wash and condition your hair every 3-4 days.

Plait your hair at up night and, for real luxuary, have a silk pillowcase.

If you find you have knots in your hair, tease them free. Be gentle to your hair! It’s remarkably fragile.
