How to Stylishly Trim Your Beard

We are in the new millennium and believe it or not facial hair has actually become extremely trendy.  Just because something is trendy, doesn’t mean having facial hair automatically makes you look good. Depending on the shape of your face or how thick your facial hair is will dictate what will suit you.

Before you grow a beard look around and find a style you feel will suit the structure of your face.  If you have a longer face, you can get away with a taller thicker beard. If your face is shorter, a very thin chin strap will most likely suit you because it will help elongate your face. By following one of these simple how to guides, you will learn how to trim your beard to look like a sexy beast!

Regardless what you choose, before starting to grow your beard, you are going to want to start with a clean slate.  Get out some shaving cream, lather up your face really well and using a high end razor, shave all the hair off your face, including your side burns.

Allow your hair to grow back for a few days, if you have strong facial hair, a few days should be enough to notice some growth.  At this point, you will want to use your razor to carve out your design.  If you want to grow a chin strap, start with your neck.  Create a very straight line that runs along your jaw starting from your jaw close to your ear.

Once your neck is cleared up, thin your side burns up so they are around 1/4″ thick.  Follow this line down to wear you created a straight line near your neck.  Keep the line roughly the same thickness across your entire jawline.

If you screw up your first time, don’t worry it happens to all of us.  One trick, although hard on your skin is to shave without shaving cream.  Shaving without shaving cream, while slightly painful gives you a much better vision of what you are doing.  If that doesn’t work for you, after you apply the shaving cream, use your finger to trace out the areas you want to leave hair.  Then all you have to do is shave where there is shaving cream!
