Skin Care Tips: Go Natural
What can better than feeding your skin and hair an all natural diet? But if you are confused about how to select these products then this article may help you to choose from the natural products’ aisle so you can look your best- naturally.

You know, plenty of products available in the market that come with ‘natural’ tag but there’s always some doubt about what that actually means. Even a look at the ingredients leaves you puzzled. If you’re looking for a natural path to a more beautiful you then here are the list of natural products- what’s good for you and what’s to avoid.
But first let’s take a look at Why Go Natural?
A lot depends on what suits your skin and works for you. But going natural can have its advantages. Plant ingredients and natural substances have powerful healing and beauty enhancing properties. In fact, several beauty products exist in nature such as natural cleansers, toners and moisturisers. Natural ingredients can also treat skin and hair problems because of their healing properties.
Synthetic or chemical products unless used with care, could cause skin damage in the long run, especially for those with sensitive skin. Regular use might result in allergic reactions, rashes, pigmentation, excessive dryness and premature ageing. Certain chemicals can certainly damage the collagen bands and dermis, causing dents and deep wrinkles.
But this is not to say that natural products cannot cause allergies and rashes. On the contrary, you could be allergic to anything, including a natural ingredient. So always perform a patch test on your elbow before using any product.
What is Good
- Lavender: It is not only smells good, but also has calming and anti-bacterial properties.
- Aloe Vera: It is very effective in cooling and moisturising the skin. Read more about Aloe Vera.
- Honey: It works as a moisturiser and keeps the skin supple and elastic. Honey is also a wonderful anti-irritant.
- Almond Oil: It’s good both for skin and hair. It leaves your skin feeling soft and pampered.
- Rose: The fragrant water is great for firming the skin. It’s a great skin toner.
- Fuller’s earth: Helps to cleanse the skin and is also used to treat pimples, acne and blemishes.
What is Not
- Parabens: A chemical found as a preservative in most moisturisers, it can cause excessive dryness of the skin over a period of time, resulting in premature ageing.
- Paba: Technically para-aminobenzoic acid, found in sunscreen and moisturisers, it can lead to a photo-toxic reaction causing darkening of the skin. It can also cause rashes and headaches.
- Hydroquinone: Commonly used as a skin lightening agent but can also lead to an increase in pigmentation and loss of melanin. Regular usage over a long period could be carcinogenic.
- Ammonia: Often found in hair colour, it causes photo allergic reactions and also makes hair brittle.
- Formaldehyde Resin: An ingredient in nail polish, it could lead to contact dermatitis. That is, whatever part of the skin comes in contact with the resin can break out in allergies and rashes.
Try to use natural products to reduce the chances of any skin disease.
