If room is a consideration, you don’t have to purchase a full sized trampoline. A mini trampoline will fit into the corner of your house will give the same heart healthy benefits. Is jumping on a trampoline an effective workout for your child? A study conducted by NASA found that people who exercised on a trampoline had a greater oxygen intake than those who ran or jogged on a treadmill. Plus, it tends to be more gentle on the joints than running.
Trampoline exercise has even more positive benefits in children. Be sure to supervise your child when he uses the trampoline as injuries can occur.
To further motivate your child, give him a gold star when he completes a thirty minute trampoline workout. When he achieves a certain number of gold stores, reward him with a small gift or special privilege. Another good way to encourage your child to exercise is to get a second mini trampoline and exercise right along with him. Not only are you motivating your child and setting a good example, you’ll be giving yourself the many benefits of aerobic exercise. Don’t be surprised to see the pounds start to fall off.
If your child prefers music to television, let him select his favorite music as a background for his trampoline exercise. Music can be a strong motivator and can make a workout much more fun. Some studies have also shown you exercise harder with lively music playing in the background.
If you’re concerned about childhood obesity and the health risks associated with an overweight child, encouraging your child to exercise on a trampoline can be an excellent way to address these problems. Why not give it a try?
