Communication

When  Stevie first started school he had mumbled dribbled and whined. As time progressed we saw such a change in him as the school introduced a method of sign language known as ‘makaton’ this wonderful miracle of simplified talking with your hands, meant that we as parents and his brothers were able to communicate with him.

The first time Stevie came home in his taxi, the escort brought him out and he crawled into the kitchen straight to the fridge and started to pat his elbow twice, i was so shocked as i knew from the signing that he wanted a biscuit, its so easy and i have the the details  on my emailing system.

When he used to come in and go in the kitchen the frustration on both of us was terrible i didnt know what he wanted.

We now started to learn all sorts of signs, drink, food,  ’biscuit’, please. thank you. It goes on and on.

I went on courses so i was one step ahead of stevie so at least i knew before hand what he was trying to tell me. Believe me it is a god send, yet not widely publicized.Why i don’t know,but i have a lot of info on this.

If you are to see development in your child communication is one of the first things you need, it stops tantrums and helps you as a person to cope.
