Sign, Symptoms and Treatment of Boil (Pigsa)
Boils, in Tagalog word is called PIGSA, do not need to be drained in order to heal. Opening the infected skin area will cause further infections.
Sign, Symptoms and Treatment of Boil
Boil – it is caused by infection by the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus in which result of pain in a swollen area on the skin, which also caused by an accumulation of pus and dead tissue.
Signs and symptoms:
- It is bumpy red.
- Pus-filled lumps around a hair follicle (warm and painful).
- May experience fever.
- Swollen lymph nodes.
- Fatigue.

Treatment:
- Draining boils by application of a cloth soaked in warm salt water.
- Use antibiotic cream or antiseptic tea tree oil to cover the furuncle.
- Don’t squeeze the furuncle without consulting a medical practitioner because it may spread the infection.
- It is also incise and drain by a medical practitioner to avoid any risk which leads to a serious complication.
- It is advice to have an antibiotic therapy for a large or those occur in sensitive areas.

Draining it leads to its healing — this is a common misconception among those who don’t have the right background about such things. Now that I have a daughter I am even more careful about things like this. If I’m not sure about something, I just go and consult the doctor. Thanks for the information.
