18 Effective Tips for a Groovy Sleep

As we get older the time of our sleep gets shortening. A sleep should last for 7 to 8 hours normally. There are many reasons for sleeplessness or insomnia. Breathing problem, severe pain and other disorders will not let us sleep properly. Consult your doctor if you have insomnia due to the above reasons. Here are few tips that will be effective in making you find a peaceful sleep.

1. Keep a regular time to sleep every time.
2. Do not force yourself to sleep. Sleep only when you feel sleepy.
3. Avoid afternoon naps. Just have 30 minutes of short sleep if you can not avoid.
4. Do not consume tea, coffee and cola 4 hours before sleep. The same applies for cigarettes.
5. Drink a cup of milk half an hour before your bedtime.
6. Alcohol may aid in sleeping, but if increases the tiredness and may wake you up in between.

7. Having a heavy dinner may delay your sleep.
8. Do not use clocks that tick louder or keep the clock in front of your eyes.
9. A bath with luke-warm water will help in getting sleep.
10. Yoga will lead you to a peaceful sleep.
11. Avoid watching television before sleep.
12. Reading is the most recommended activity before going to bed.
13. A room with good ventilation is always better to sleep in.
14. Do not use stiff mattress. This will lead to back pain.
15. Do not change your bed regularly.

16. If you wakeup in between a sleep, hearing a light music will bring back the lost sleep.
17. Wake up early in the morning.
18. A small walk will not only keep you healthy but also keeps a check on your weigth, which is necessary for a good sleep.

Thank you for these great tips. Luckily, I have no problems falling asleep. I only sleep for maybe five hours a night so when I do go to bed I’m ready to go to sleep.

These might be helpful for me. Have you ever thought of writing one about sleeping during the day for people like me who are third shift workers. It feels so hard to get sleep when the sun is up. Great piece and I love the pictures
