Adrenal Fatigue and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis

Many people with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis have adrenal fatigue.

Many people with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis have adrenal fatigue. My goal is to not only explain how this develops, but to give you some tips that will help restore the health of your adrenal glands. In addition to being a licensed healthcare practitioner who has helped patients with adrenal fatigue, I was personally diagnosed with an autoimmune disease of the thyroid, adrenals were stressed, and managed to restore health my adrenal glands.

Although many people are aware of common symptoms associated with adrenal fatigue (a constant feeling of exhaustion, sleep disturbance, concentration difficulties, etc.), what many people do not realize is that stress can actually adrenal glands cause autoimmune disease such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis to develop. The reason is that chronic adrenal fatigue can compromise the immune system. Thus, over a long period of time, a weakened immune system can make someone susceptible to an autoimmune disease of the thyroid such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

The good news is that most cases of adrenal fatigue can be reversed. The problem is that most people do not know how, as just going out and buying nutritional supplements from their local health food store, hoping this will help. Some see a doctor or holistic, but the fact remains that most doctors do not know how to properly treat this common problem. I too was guilty of this when I first started practicing, as my first years of practice I would also like to just say a lot of my patients to eat healthily, tell them to take some supplements, etc.

Primary 3 Common causes of adrenal fatigue

The truth is that good food and good nutritional supplementation can help, but doing that alone will not suffice. For better understanding, consider three of the major causes of adrenal fatigue:

Cause No. 1: The chronic stress. This is a major cause of adrenal fatigue, that while the adrenals were designed to cope with situations of acute stress, they can effectively treat chronic, prolonged stress. Unfortunately, we live in a society where most people have some type of chronic stress in their lives, over a period of months and years will be felt in the adrenal glands, resulting in adrenal fatigue.

Habits Cause # 2: poor eating habits. Eating poorly can certainly affect the health of your adrenal glands and eventually contribute to adrenal fatigue. This is particularly true for those who frequently eat refined carbohydrates, in which many people fit in this category. The reason why this can affect the adrenal glands because refined foods removes both nutrients and fiber from the food source. While manufacturers will replace some of the nutrients removed, these refined foods are more fiber to help slow the absorption. This means that when you eat fine food, it absorbs rapidly into the bloodstream, and blood sugar spikes up.

So someone who has the habit of eating refined carbohydrates throughout the day (sugary cereals and snacks, bread, pasta, etc.) can cause blood sugar in the blood and collapsed to Spike again and again. During a period of several months and years, which puts a tremendous amount of stress on the adrenal glands and other endocrine glands in the body. Although I will not discuss the physiology behind this here, fatigue affects adrenal hormones cortisol (released when glucose levels are too low) and insulin (released by the pancreas when blood sugar is high). Over time this can lead to depleted levels of cortisol, which can cause chronic fatigue and many other symptoms associated with stressed adrenals. This can also lead to conditions such as insulin resistance, diabetes, thyroid disorders, autoimmune etc.

Cause No. 3: do not eat regularly. In addition to eating junk food often, many people are guilty of not eating on a consistent basis throughout the day. Many skip breakfast, which is not a good thing to do. This once again ties with glycemic control, and if you skip breakfast and / or visit more than two hours without eating in the morning, it took a lot of pressure on your adrenal glands, eventually leading to adrenal fatigue.

There are also other causes of adrenal fatigue, in addition to these three factors, but just make those changes in your lifestyle can really work wonders when it comes to health adrenals.
