Attack Back – Mold Allergies

Attack Back – Mold Allergies.

Mold can be a constant source of discomfort. Unlike seasonal allergies to get a time out of season, or food and pet allergies, which can be physically prevent mold allergies bothered by victims 24 / 7. This is because mold is around us all the time, every day, inside and outside, rain or shine.

People with mold allergies tend to have more severe symptoms in the summer. However, mold spores, allergens in question, are released into the air in hot weather or cold, wet or dry conditions. In addition, mold can establish themselves and grow almost anywhere, making no safe place for victims of mold allergy.

On the positive side – there are thousands of types of molds and only some small cause allergies. These are usually the guys who live in damp, as the outdoor mold the wet leaves and grass clippings or decaying vegetation and trees. Molds from moisture inside the allergic nature can grow in the laundry room, bathroom, kitchen, basement or attic, anywhere moisture collects.

Symptoms of mold allergy are similar to those of all other allergies – skin irritations, chronic sneezing, runny nose and itchy, watery eyes. A doctor can give you a simple skin test to determine if you are allergic to mold. Once diagnosed, a plan to treat the current symptoms and prevention of events can be developed.

Symptoms can be treated by over-the-counter medications such as antihistamines, decongestants and nasal sprays. For a severe reaction, consult your doctor. You can get some prescription strength that will do the trick.

The next thing to do is eliminate or minimize all possible sources of mold allergens in your home. Here are some recommended actions:

1. Ensure the house is well ventilated and have working exhaust fans in each bathroom.

2. Use air conditioning, if possible. Install an air of high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) in the central air conditioning unit. This prevents mold spores from being distributed throughout the house.

3. If you have carpeting in every room that could become wet, such as kitchen, bathroom or basement, remove it. Carpet welcomes mold and is better off without him, although it might get wet.

4. Because mold can accumulate rapidly, bathrooms and kitchens should be washed frequently.

5. Use a dehumidifier to reduce humidity levels in your home. If you do not have a dehumidifier, raising the temperature also reduces the moisture.

6. All water drains from the roof must be channeled away from the foundation of the building to eliminate the mold growth process near you.

7. Any leaks in the home should be repaired as soon as possible to stop any growth of mold within the structure that will be harder to detect and remove later. This could happen anywhere, but is particularly common on the roofs, foundations and wall areas near windows or doors.

8. Should be taken to help ensure that any place in the courtyard which becomes wet, especially around the house and open windows should be capable of drying. Remove excess foliage, or cut trees, to allow air and sun to reach these areas and dry them regularly.

Do not let mold allergies make the best of you. Fight back!

  1. Totally agree ! For those who like me whose eyes get the full brunt of allergies–a trusted brand tiny pill has a new product for the eye–works great. Wish I could name the brand, but it might be illegal.—starts with a C
