Bizarre Medical Treatments You Probably Didn’t Know Exist
You may not have heard of these bizarre medical treatments before. While some of these disgusting medical practices do work, some don’t, they’re still used as a measure to treat certain diseases.
Smoking Therapy

You all know very well the dangerous health risk of smoking because it has over 300 carcinogens that have proved to be as damaging to the lungs of the smokers. Nevertheless, research has shown a 50% lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease or Parkinson disease in smokers as compared to the non-smokers. Nicotine has also found to give an encouraging result especially in improving Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms and reducing the risk of developing ulcerative colitis. Still, I don’t agree with this type of therapy for adults and particularly not for teens and children.
Marijuana Therapy

Several researchers have advocated the use of marijuana as a drug and are focusing on benefits of marijuana therapy in adults and kids with ADHD. Even though marijuana is said to be beneficial to someone being treated for a painful disease, it can be awfully destructive to others. I strongly believe that the daily use of marijuana can leave many side effects. Well, not always will you see its destructive property, but the risk is always there. I don’t deny a positive change in the behavior of ADHD sufferers after smoking marijuana, but you must realize that, over the time, marijuana can begin to suppress the immunity, neurological and serotonin system, which can eventually result in depression. I think, besides smoking marijuana, there must be other best ways and methods to treat ADHD.

I knew about the studies regarding a lower risk of Parkinson’s in smokers, My mother had Parkinson’s and I have told people this before as I read about this in information from The Parkinsons Society, no one ever believes me when I tell them about it. I have cut down my smoking and will quite soon, I just hope that my time smoking lowered my risk of getting it as my mother and aunt did.
