·         Though Centipede bite looks similar to snake bites but keep in mind that it is non toxic and so you don’t need to panic. Yes the Centipede bite is painful but it may get further complicated if not given some first aid treatment.

·         Wash the area bitten by centipede with warm water and an antiseptic soap.

·         In case swelling occurs use hot compress to diminish swelling and use ice pack or cold compress to reduce pain.

·         In case of severe pain you make take and over the counter medication to kill the pain.

·         Some centipede bite can get septic and cause further complication so it would be wise to consult a pharmacist and take some antibiotic tablets as precautionary measures.

·         If you haven’t taken a tetanus injection in recent time, it’s time you get one. This too would be a precautionary step just in case of infection of the centipede bite.

Follow these simple steps and avoid visiting the doctor for centipede bite treatment. In most case the pain and swelling eases of in few hours, leaving a itchy feeling which takes some days to vanish. The antibiotics and Tetanus dose are just precautionary steps to avoid infection of centipede bites.

Symptoms of centipede bite

Serious headache, nausea, vomiting, swelling, itching and redness are some common symptoms of centipede bite and they aren’t a cause of major concern.  In some cases increase in heart beat have been reported after a centipede bite and in such circumstances it would be advisable to seek for medical help. Deaths of tissue or Necrosis have been reported in the centipede bitten area.

Severe reaction of centipede bite may occur in elderly patients, allergic patients and children, in such case it would be advisable to seek for immediate and proper medical care.
