Cervical Cancer Information Symptoms and Cure

Cervical cancer is the Cancer which occurs when abnormal cells on the cervix which is the lower part of the uterus that opens into the vagina grow out of control. Cervical cancer can often be cured if it is found in the earlier stages. Cervical Cancer can be usually found through a Pap test where the doctor scrapes a small sample of cells from the surface of the cervix to look if there are cell changes. Another breakthrough is a new device called APX which looks like a TV remote control with a pen like probe in its end which can diagonize Cervical Cancer in minutes. Mostly Cervical cancer is caused by a virus called human papillomavirus or HPV through sexual contact with someone having it.

This is a painless procedure and is said to reduce the diagnosis of Cervical Cancer to minutes. Mostly Cervical cancer is caused by a virus called human papillomavirus or HPV through sexual contact with someone having it. One infected by HPV may not display any have symptoms and therefore one can have HPV for years and not know it. This Virus may stay in the body and cause cervical cancer years after the infection. However not all HPV causes Cancer. Some of the Symptoms of cervical cancer are

  • Abnormal Bleeding from the vagina
  • Significant and unexplained Change in the menstrual cycle
  • Bleeding when something comes in contact with your cervix especially during or after sex or when inserting a diaphragm.
  • Pain during sexual Intercourse.
  • Abnormal Vaginal discharge that is tinged with blood.
  • Pelvic pain that is not related to the normal menstrual
  • Bladder pain or pain during urination

Cervical Cancer in advance stages can be treated with Chemotherapy or Radiation therapy or Hysterectomy and removal of pelvic lymph nodes with or of both without removal ovaries and fallopian tubes. These treatments may make one unable to have children. Cervical cancer can spread from its original place to another part of the body if not treated. For instance, if cervical cancer spreads to the lungs it is called as metastatic cervical cancer. One practical Precaution against this Cancer can be practicing safe sex by use of Condoms and limiting the number of sexual partners.

The good news is that now there is a vaccine called Gardasil which helps to protect against the HPV causing Cervical Cancer and genital warts. It should ideally be done to girls at the age of 12. However, the vaccination can also be done till the age of 26. This vaccination is done in three shots over 6 months.

Diets and Lifestyle changes for Prevention and Control of Cancers

It is always better to be safe than sorry. Diets play an important role in the prevention and control of many type of cancers. There are many foods that lessen the risk of Cancer whereas there are many which increases the risk. A high can fiber diet protects against cancer. Some examples of high fiber food which can be included in diet are wheat bran, kidney beans, potatoes, whole wheat, whole grains, legumes, whole grain bread, prunes etc. Saturated fats can be bad so limit the daily intake. Many vegetables and fruits have anti cancer properties so make sure to have them daily. Many of these are also rich in Vitamin C and Antioxidants which helps fight cancer. Vegetables like spinach, broccoli, beans, carrots, cabbage, soybeans, cauliflower, peppers, garlic, sweet potatoes, tomatoes etc are some good vegetables to include in diet. Also consume Fruits like grapefruit, grapes, lemons, mangoes, oranges and papayas which are beneficial for preventing cancer. Also include fish, egg yolks and dairy products in the Diet as they have Vitamin D which suppresses the formation of new blood vessels that promote the growth of tumors. Daily exposure to sunshine is another way to get Vitamin D. Vitamin E also has anticancer properties. Too much salt can be bad so cut down the overall salt intake. It is advisable to avoid high salt items like pickles, crisps, salted nuts etc. Smoking and alcohol may lead to several types of cancers and thereafter is best to avoid it. Apart from that exercises like Surya Namaskar helps one to be active and healthy.
