Dengue: The Deadly Threat

Dengue H-Fever is a communicable disease because of its virus which transfers from one person to another through the bit of the mosquito.
“Aedes Aegypti” (indoors) and “Aedes Albopictus (Outdoors) are the types of mosquitoes which spread this kind of disease which attack during daytime. They just live in our immediate surroundings and even inside our house.

A person is directly affected with Dengue if the mosquito has bitten a patient who is positively carrying a virus. Common symptoms of this illness are: abrupt onset of high fever which last for about 2-7 days, joint paints restlessness, nose bleeding, severe headache, red spots/marks on the skin, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, some other symptoms are measles like rash on the chest and upper limbs, and eliminating dark stools which is caused by the bleeding of the intestines.
To prevent its widest spread, everybody should join and participate in the nationwide operation of exterminating this disease.
Gathering anything which can serve as breeding sites of mosquitoes should be avoided such as discarded bottles and tires, tin can and metal drums. Water should not be stagnant on the following breeding sites. Besides, cleanliness in the environment should be maintained. Flower vase and water storage should be constantly cleaned, roof gutters and water outlets should be checked every now and then so that water won’t stagnate.
The use of mosquito net, day and night, is encourage, if not put screen on the windows or doors. Meanwhile, don’t give aspirin to the person with the symptom of dengue nor let the person with Dengue H-Fever be bitten by mosquito. Because the mosquito will carry the virus and might bite another person. When disease is undoubtedly found in one place it should be reported immediately to the nearest Health Center.
