Diet for Arthritis– Is There a Diet for Arthritis Cure?

Whether you suffer from gout or plain arthritis, you know for a fact that these conditions are similarly painful. The pain we feel are the inflammations that occur in our joints. Although we take pain relievers, we would like to find a solution that could permanently relieve our arthritic pain.

Some swear adherence to diet as the ultimate cure, but experts say that a diet for arthritis is quite obscure.   

This is mainly due to the differences in the physiological make up in individuals. A certain type of diet for arthritis may work for one individual but if taken by another will trigger further inflammation due to allergic reactions. Others will not attest to it because the recommended diet for arthritis does not have any effect at all.  

However, if we are to discuss generalities, the following are the essential tips on how we can improve our diets to help alleviate the pain in our arthritis:

1. A well-balanced diet is a recommended diet for arthritis to optimize the vitamins and minerals that we receive from our food intakes. 

2. Maintain you ideal weight; if you are currently overweight you should be aware that one of the detriments of this condition is the pressure that your joints receive from your body. Diet for arthritis is aimed to reduce the excessive amount of weight that your knee joints have to carry everyday. 

It is said that your knee joints tend to suffer from the weight pressure by 5 to 6 times the amount of your body weight while you are walking. Hence, a diet for arthritis is more on the need to lose weight to alleviate arthritic pain. One particular diet recommended to effectively lose weight is the Mediterranean-style diet. This recommended diet for arthritis is mainly concentrated in eating fruits and vegetables as a means of lessening your calorie intakes. 

3. However, it would also be worth mentioning that antioxidants as part of the benefits of certain foods have shown promise as an arthritic relief. Diet for arthritis will be recommended to gain the benefits of antioxidants that provide relief for inflammatory pains. Aside from fruits and vegetables, other sources of antioxidants are grains, nuts, poultry, fish and lean meat. 

4. Antioxidants fight off the free radicals or elements that have found their way into our system but do not provide health giving nutrients. Instead, these free radicals attach themselves to our body to cause inflammation and deterioration. Although not necessarily pinpointing the free radicals as cause of arthritis, the inflammatory factor now links diet for arthritis in a curative relationship. 

5. Engaging in exercises that can promote metabolism or burning off of calorie intakes as well as stored calories that cause excessive weight. Here in this aspect, the goal of exercise regimens is weight reduction to lessen pressure in our joints and not to provide a direct cure for arthritis.    

Thus, since the link between diet and arthritis is quite complicated, it is recommended that any food intakes, vitamins, or supplements recommended as diet for arthritis should not be taken at face value. Experts have not established any cure for arthritis but only relief from arthritic pain. Hence, there is no exact diet for arthritis cure.
