They injected resveratrol into the brains of the mice who were suffering from diabetes. A placebo group was likewise monitored for proper comparison. After a 5 week observation, the mice on high-fat diets showed healthy insulin levels in 50% of the group. However, some of the other mice had elevated insulin levels but was conclusive as such insulin levels were high because of their diet.
While the research has mostly been on mice, the findings have shown that resveratrol can possibly affect the brain. It is commonly held that the understanding the brain is a major factor in the fight against diabetes. Because of resveratrol’s effect on the brain, and some positive results, more research is needed.
