Government Should Allocate More Funds to The Treatment of Cancer

Cancer victims are facing hard time accessing the limited and expensive treatment; because of this so many cancer patients are going through a lot of pain, they do not have enough money to buy drugs. Medicines for cancer are more available in personal clinics than they are in government hospitals, with business in the way of such medical services, individuals are profiting from this miserable situation leaving so many cancer victims who cannot afford the treatment to suffering.

Not all cancer is incurable; in fact some cancers like Erwing’s Sarcoma are curable but still due to the expensive treatment such cancers have not been treated. If government invested more in this sector, those with curable cancers would be able to access treatment at an early stage and therefore heel. Still those with incurable cancer would at least live a little longer.

 Furthermore why government should subsidize cancer treatment is that the current treatment for cancer that is available makes life more miserable for cancer patients. After having CT scans, cancer patients take almost up to two weeks or more before they can back to their normal activities due to the strong scans that make them weak. Research is a contribution from many specialists and I really believe if governmental allocates more funds to the treatment of cancer definitely doctors too will put in more efforts in research and also see to it that these patients are given the best treatment at affordable rates.

We are losing very energetic young men and women to cancer, most of them have died, all of us are potential candidates for cancer irrespective of the age or sex. Now days most people who catch cancer are actually young energetic men and women who are still studying, cancer always gets in the way of their studies not because they give up but because of the pain it puts them through.

I lost a friend to cancer. He was a very determined and God fearing young man. While at school, he went for CT scans after about a month but every time he went for these scans he had to stay at home for two more weeks. He had a trauma that had grown around his left eye. Most of the times he walked holding a hankie to cover his eye, puss could flow from it. The area around his left eye had blackened; he always lost hair on his head. Being a leader at school, he was a very active student and also known and loved by many.
