Healthiest Foods in The World: Walnuts The Brain Food

A concept in herbalism called the “Doctrine of Signatures” centuries old, which is based on the idea that God marked everything with a signature. The doctrine says that since the walnut looks like the human brain, it’s bound to help in that department. – Truly it does.

There are two common kinds of walnuts – the English and the Black Walnut. Each is slightly different in nutrition, both great.

Like most nuts, walnuts are nutrient rich, especially minerals. Walnuts contain, fiber, protein, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium and traces of manganese, a mineral that’s essential for growth, reproduction, brain function, wound healing and the metabolism of sugars, insulin and cholesterol.

Walnuts Brighten up Your Day!

Walnuts contain the most omega-3 fats out of any other nuts. Omega-3 (the good fat) has loads of benefits for the body, like lower triglyceride levels and reduces plaque build-up. The most famous contribution of this wonderful fat though is it’s support on various levels of brain function. One of which is the level that affects our mood and feelings.

Various studies on omega-3 link it to depression. Biochemical evidence shows low levels of omega -3 on depressed patients, and higher levels on non-depressed people.

This is how it works. Like any other fat – omega-3 incorporates into cell membranes. Omega-3s are soft which allow them to communicate with each other to facilitate the movement of dopamine and serotonin (the feel good hormones) in and out of the cells, and helping them support memory and thinking as well.
