How to Dissolve Kidney Stones Without Using Medications
If you were suffering from kidney stone disease, you would definitely know how painful it is to carry a kidney stone. There are several ways to dissolve kidney stones naturally, without depending on medications.
Kidney stones can be excruciatingly painful and bothersome to deal with. In addition to the excruciating pain they cause, one would also experience burning on urination (associated with infection stones), nausea and vomiting and bloody urine, if they were carrying a kidney stone. As one can see, the symptoms of kidney stone disease are not pleasant and easy to bear with, especially if those nasty stones revisit you, making you experience those annoying symptoms repeatedly throughout your lifetime. Nevertheless, is it easy or safe to take many medications to treat your condition? Surely, most of us would look for alternatives to pills, which are affordable and safer. Fortunately, there are natural means by which you can easily dissolve kidney stones.
1. Drink plenty of water and fluids
Dehydration should be prevented if you are carrying a kidney stone. If you suffer from dehydration, you would produce a small volume of urine causing substances in it to concentrate. When your urine is building up with substances such as calcium, oxalate, uric acid, and the amount of water you take is very little, it can reach a point where these substances precipitate out as crystals or stones. It does not depend on which type of stone you are likely to develop, but low urine volume would easily lead to stone formation. Drinking plenty of water helps disintegrate kidney stones into bits easier to be passed in the urine. This is also the easiest way to help dissolve kidney stones without taking drugs. As to the amount of water to be drunk, it depends on the type of stone. Generally, one should take at least two litres of water per day if they have a kidney stone.

In addition to water, one should also increase the intake of other fluids. Bear in mind that some drinks such as coffee and tea can lead to the formation of kidney stones and should be avoided. Fruit juices such as lemon, black current, cranberry and coconut water are excellent choices to help you dissolve and prevent kidney stones. Citrus fruit juices are helpful as they load your body with vitamin C and raise the citrate levels in your urine, which helps prevent the formation of calcium stones. Coconut water contains both vitamin C and a high amount of potassium which helps dissolve kidney stones and prevent their development.
2. Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables
Eat more fruits and vegetables to load your body with useful soluble fibres, vitamin C and potassium in them. Fruits and vegetables will not only help you dissolve kidney stones but also prevent many other medical conditions. One should take five to seven servings of fruits and vegetables daily to get their maximum benefits and help you naturally dissolve and prevent kidney stones. Eating more fruits and vegetables helps in preventing the build-up of calcium in your urine. Therefore, it is good news to those of us who find it difficult to take medications or three litres of water every day. Eat more fruits and vegetables to get rid of kidney stones, and loads of nutrients that will keep you healthy and vitalized.

3. Load your body with vitamin C
Who doesn’t like vitamin C, especially if it helps you dissolve the stone in your kidney? Some of us may have heard that vitamin C causes calcium oxalate stones. It is true that vitamin C does increase your body’s production of oxalate but do your research, can you find any evidence suggesting that taking vitamin C leads to kidney stones? There are none, but you can find the fact that vitamin C actually minimize the possibility of forming kidney stones by binding with free calcium in the urine. Not only does vitamin C prevent stones but also helps flush out kidney stones due to its diuretic effects. Most importantly, it acidifies your urine and dissolves stones such as calcium phosphate and infection stones (struvite stones). This does not mean that you should overdose on vitamin C supplements. Just include plenty of foods rich in vitamin C, in your diet. Fruits and vegetables are valuable sources of vitamin C.
