Open the blinds
Light is one of the greatest cures for morning grogginess and sleep inertia. Open the blinds as soon as you awaken and let the light shine in. This will help to clear your grogginess more quickly.
Take a shower
A shower, particularly a slightly cold one, can be quite effective for clearing the effects of sleep inertia. After opening the blinds, the next stop you should make is the bathroom to take a shower.
Start moving as quickly as possible
Don’t lounge in bed after your alarm goes off. Get up immediately and start doing gentle stretching exercises to increase blood flow to your brain and muscles. Movement is another effective cure for morning grogginess.
Get up at the same time each day
Keep regular hours for going to sleep and waking up. Your brain will learn to adjust to this rhythm and respond with increased alertness at your designated wake up time.
