I Hate Doctors

Why I hate doctors.

I hate doctors

Well maybe hate is too strong a word. Maybe it’s more like I don’t trust them. Maybe I think they don’t know what they’re doing?

This all started earler today when I learned that my mother has a tumor on her pituitary gland. It’s probably benign and she’ll probably be okay. But the thing that ticks me off is that she doesn’t see the doctor until August 16 more than two weeks from now. That gives me,her, and other friends and family two weeks to worry.

Why couldn’t she get an ealier appointment? Aren’t there enough doctors? Do doctors like to torture people?

I imagine a patuitary gland tumor isn’t a big deal to a doctor. Doctors probably see them every day. But to patients and their families they are a big deal. If Mom has to wait half a month to see a doctor she is at least owed an explanation. She didn’t get one.

Doctors have to keep a certain emotional distance from thier patients in order to do their jobs. But when they start to act like they don’t care, that’s too much distance.

  1. There are some great Doctors but it can be frustrating trying to get the help you need in a bogged down medical system.

  2. I totally agree. When you are first diagnosed with a serious illness, there is instant stress which doesn’t help the situation. When possible, a timely followup would relieve some of this suffering and get the patient on the road to recovey.
