Influenza and Swine Flu

The differences and similarities between seasonal and swine flu.

The symptoms of the common influenza and swine flu are very similar. The most noticeable difference between the two is that swine flu sets on very very fast. The two most common symptoms are a sudden cough and high fever. The reason swine flu is so much worse than flu is that it has a different genetic structure and our immune systems have never been exposed to it before so therefore we have no resistance against it. Swine flu also affects the fit and healthy compared with the normal flu which affects mainly the elderly and young. Treatment for swine flu involves taking antivirals and quarantining oneself for up to 14 days or when the symptoms have completely gone. Both influenza and swine flu is passed from human to human through coughing and sneezing, touching surfaces and picking up the germs onto your hands and then putting your hands into your mouth. You can avoid this by washing hands and using a hand sanitiser regularly. an aging actor oh so furious. A vaccine is being developed.
