Continuation from Part- 1

A candidate should be very careful while talking about his strengths and weaknesses, as these are his personality traits and the result of the interview depends a lot on them.  If a person says that he is hard working and fast learner and he can adjust easily in a team then he is just following a regular pattern which is followed by majority of the candidates. If you really want that job then you have to prove yourself better than all other candidates, so your strengths and weaknesses should also be different and better than other candidates. For eg., in strengths you can say that you have the ability to stay calm in crisis and can handle the situation in a cool manner, however, if you are making this type of statement you should also be able to prove it with an example.

You should be more careful while talking about your weaknesses as they are the negative traits and you have to tell them in such a manner that they seem to be positive, for eg., even if you are short- tempered then also you can’t afford to talk about it. You need to be more rational while talking about your weaknesses for eg., you can say, I am single minded and if a task is given to me I concentrate fully on it and forget everything. I remember reading in some article, a person was appearing for the interview of night watchman and when he was asking about his weaknesses, he said that he can’t sleep at night as he is suffering from insomnia; obviously he got the job on the basis of his weakness.

Q3. Where do you see yourself after five years?

A hypothetical question, but needs a very careful treatment. Don’t be over-aggressive while answering this question and don’t be over-modest as well. Maintain a balance, don’t show attitude. However, the answer to this question depends on the post and profile of the job.

We will be discussing this further in the next part, till then you can catch me on The Writer or you can contact me on nbhatnagar4u@gmail.com.
