Killer Additives in Our Food

There are many additives that are an integral part of the food which we consume each day that have the distinct possibility of being killers. All of these additives although under investigation have not been banned anywhere.

Monosodium Glutamate E621 (Flavouring)

This additive is commonly used in many savoury processed foods. The research has shown that it will destroy nerve cells in the brain and then aggravate or accelerate such diseases as Huntington’s, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. It will cause cancer, DNA damage and foetal abnormalities and affects hyperactive children.

Aspartame E951(Sweetener)

200 times sweeter than sugar. It causes neurological damage, especially in younger children, which causes them to have seizures. Research has shown that it is implicated in diseases such as multiple sclerosis and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Manufacturers state it is safe.

Acesulphame K E950(Sweetener)

200 times sweeter than sugar. Research shows that it causes cancer, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), lung tumours, increased cholesterol and leukaemia.


Saccharine E954(Sweetener)

350 times sweeter than sugar. It interferes with blood coagulation, blood sugar levels and the body’s digestive function. It also causes cancer of the bladder, uterus, ovaries, skin and blood vessels. Research indicates that it can cause DNA damage and congenital abnormalities.

Sodium Benzoate E211(Preservative)

This additive is commonly used in soft drinks, meat products, baked goods, sweets and other confectionery. It greatly aggravates asthma and research shows it to be a neurotoxin and carcinogen, and to cause foetal abnormalities. It also has an adverse affect on many hyperactive children.


Sulphur Dioxide E220(Preservative)

An additive which is commonly used in soft drinks, dried fruit, juices, cordials and potato products. Research shows that it provokes gastric irritation, nausea, diarrhoea, asthma attacks and skin rashes. It also destroys vitamin B1 and causes foetal abnormalities and DNA damage.

Quinoline Yellow E104(Colouring)

This additive is used in soft drinks, ice-creams, desserts, confectionery and sauces. It causes asthma, rashes, hyperactivity, carcinogen as well as bladder and liver cancer. It is also shown to affect the reproductive system.


Sunset Yellow E110(Colouring)

An additive which is commonly used in sweets, snack foods, ice-creams and drinks. It causes cancer, DNA damage and the increased incidence of tumours.

Indigo Carmine E132(Colouring)

This additive is commonly used in ice-creams, sweets, baked goods, confectionery and biscuits. Research has shown that it causes nausea, vomiting, skin rashes, breathing problems and brain tumours. It also causes DNA damage.
