Major Scientific Advances in The Fight Against Aids
There are two major discoveries that definitely boost fight against AIDS.
Two major discoveries have come to public in the same day regarding the struggle against AIDS.:
1 – It was discovered protein that prevents HIV replication
2 – Scientists make HIV prone to the action of the immune system
Although these reports do not represent a solution to the AIDS virus in the short term, the truth is that they bring great hope for a battle that, for now, we are losing.
1 – It was discovered protein that prevents HIV replication
Two medical teams from French universities of Strasbourg and Marseille have discovered a protein that prevents replication of the virus that causes AIDS. The news was announced in France and represents a huge step towards AIDS cure.
Since this experiment was done in the laboratories, the next step will be test the efficacy of therapy in complex organisms. Despite the hope, the large-scale production of this protein will not be possible until several years of research – including clinical trials in human volunteers.
For now, scientists celebrate the technique did not show any side effects. They say tests on animals and humans are very expensive and need to pay for the new phase of studies.
2 – Scientists make HIV prone to the action of the immune system
U.S. researchers were able to modify the structure of the HIV / AIDS in order to make it susceptible to the action of the immune system.
During the investigation, the researchers altered several copies of HIV so they do not provide additional cholesterol particles in the coating structure. Then put the virus into contact with cells of the human immune system, reports the Daily Health.
The results showed that the altered virus lost the ability to “fool” the body’s defense system, making it susceptible to its action. The discovery may open the door to the development of more effective and innovative treatments against the AIDS virus.
