Natural Remedies for Sinus

Three best natural remedies at your finger tips to for the relief and treatment of sinus infection..

The unbearable pain and irritation of Sinus infection congestion is the worst. A study reveals that an estimated 37 million people get at least one sinus infection a year. There are many ways to deal with this uneasiness and its symptoms without visiting your doctor for medicines or getting addicted to decongestant nasal sprays. Here are top 3 effective home remedies to fight sinusitis.

The Popular Neti Pot

This treatment for sinus gives great relief, though temporarily. It is quite effective in keeping allergies, cold, etc from turning into a full blown infection when used as soon as the symptoms appear – dripping nose, sinus congestion, etc. So the next time symptoms of sinus occur, like your nose starts to drip, use your Neti pot twice a day or more.

Hot Toddy

This is the number one remedy for sinus. What better way than a warm booze when you are feeling down with cold and sinus infection congestion! And moreover this medicine also works. A hot toddy is basically liquor, honey, lemon, and either warm water or tea mixed together. The measurement is:

1 ounce brandy, whiskey or rum, whichever you like. (Or 2 ounces if you really want to knock this sinus infection congestion out!)
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 of a lemon
1 cup of hot tea or hot water

A cinnamon stick, six to ten cloves, or a couple of teaspoons of brown sugar can also be added to the mix if you’re not used to drinking alcohol. You should feel the relief from sinus immediately, and if you don’t , rinse and repeat!

Antibiotics are not the cure for sinus symptoms and infection. In fact, studies show that antibiotics may just get rid of the infection temporarily but it always relapses. Even doctors try to avoid prescribing antibiotics. The best remedy is the Mucinex. Take it as directed on the box as soon as the symptoms occur. Most of the time, this medicine is also very effective in preventing your cold or allergy from becoming a full blown infection. This is because the bacterium that causes the infection lives in your mucus and Mucinex thins your mucus, making it easier for your body to get rid of it. Also, removing the mucus eases the congestion.
