Nausea: Problem and Treatment
There are people who experience nausea under certain circumstances. The reason could be almost anything, and in some cases, it could even be chronic.
There are a number of things that could cause nausea, such as eggs (sunny-side up), salad, needles, giving or seeing blood, smell in a hospital, bus exhaust, cooked carrots, and last but not least, credit card bills. The problem might seem ridiculous to some people, but it is something that could happen to anybody, even you. Your nausea could linger for a long time. You get a sort of a queasy feeling in your tummy, and you might even feel like throwing up.
Nausea is a sickness that dates back to the beginning of civilization. There are those such as the Chinese that do not take it lightly. They have known for centuries that acupuncture can be the one and only effective remedy, drug-less and efficacious. Another method that could be employed is acupressure. It is needle-less and should be used before a nauseated person starts vomiting.
Besides acupuncture and acupressure that are other helpful tips that are suggested, such as
l) Coke syrup. According to pharmacist Robert Warren, Pharm.D., Head of Pharmacy Services, Valley Children’s Hospital, Fresno, California, non-carbonated syrup contains concentrated carbohydrates that might help settle the stomach. In fact, any other soft drink liquid concentrate, or even plain sugar syrup might help, the dose being one to two tablespoons for adults, at room temperature, as needed, and one to two teaspoons for children; 2) Try the uncola, such as Emetrol, an over-the-counter product that could be just as effective as Coke syrup. It is slightly more expensive and does not contain any caffeine. It contains glucose and fructose, as well as phosphoric acid; 3) Try Bonine. It is a sugar syrup from which diabetics should abstain; 4) Clear liquids. According to Kenneth Koch, M.D., gastroenterologist, Pennsylvania State University’s Medical Center, liquids, such as tea and juices, should be taken warm and not cold. Drink no more than one or two ounces at a time; 5) Be sure carbonated drinks are lukewarm , such as 7-Up or ginger ale; 6) Do not eat fatty foods. Instead, concentrate on fish and chicken breast. 7) Forget Pepto-Bismol, Mylanta or Maalox. These do not generally work for a queasy stomach;
Ginger. The capsules of the powdered root could be extremely helpful.
One way for the nausea to leave you immediately is to allow yourself to vomit, after which you would have a temporary respite from the queasy feeling. This does not mean that you should force yourself to vomit; only if you feel like doing so during an episode of chronic nausea.
